Hiya everybody, hope you all about to have a great weekend I'm glad that Gunner and Mrs, Wilder had agreed with me or also thought there should have been more intrigue re Leanne and Karl. It really made me scratch my head when I thought back to John Michie saying that he was keen to work more closely with Jane, why say that and then have so little actual events take place? Unless the script is being reorganised perpetually and they cut a big chunk out? I always feel like I've missed out on something big.as though I haven't been watching every episode like a hawk,lol.

Also wondered if any of you think as I do, that considering the big secret Kylie, Gail and Nick are keeping, that they haven't been jumping to the conclusion that David has somehow found out about the baby? It's not like they all haven't noticed his sudden dark demeanor and nastiness. Why are none of them puzzling a bit more over what has got him into such a sinister frame of mind again? It would have to be something pretty serious for him to be acting up again after all this time. I think Leanne has always been very quick off the mark to spot anything amiss so I expect her to be way more suspicious than this soon.

It'll be nice to see Peter show a bit of compassion and concern for Leanne for a change, it has been a long time in coming.I think if he is ever in the situation where he has to give her a hug and comfort her that it'll bring him back to his senses and he'll realise what he's given up I still know he's in complete denial about her even now. I think Leanne has been 'rested' lately as Mrs.W has said but she needs to be back in the thick of it again for those of us who appreciate her. She brings light with her. Anyway I look forward to seeing all your great comments again. Andrea

Yes, it does seem like a bit of a wasted opportunity that they didn't do more with Leanne and Karl after they seemed to indicate that there would be more to it than just a little bit of his threatening behaviour. I suppose while Karl is a premeditated murderer, he's not stupid, and to be behaving like that towards Stella's daughter really isn't a good idea, so I can see why that petered out. That said, on the other hand, seeing as how he's becoming increasingly desperate, it would have been brilliant (IMO) if Leanne had been onto him...and if he might have had to cause her (and therefore Stella by default) pain. Would have been a bit of a wrenching dilemma for him. Anyway...

I mentioned the other day that I thought Nick should really have been catching on on Wednesday. After catching up with Friday's episodes, I think Nick must start to realise at some point that David has found out. David was really laying the speculation about forgiveness on thick towards the end of the episodes.

It was good to see Simon...rather jealous of his chicken Kiev for lunch!

With regards to Leanne, I guess she seemed quite happy until the break-in...Am I right in thinking that she noticed that the picture that David had taken from the frame was missing? You would wonder why someone would do that and why someone would trash the place without taking anything...I suppose David doesn't really care that he'll eventually get found out.

I enjoyed last night's action...David's plotting, Leanne's mention of wanting to use a baseball bat (eek...I'd definitely run the other way from that! ), Leanne and Peter's normality. I do wonder when it'll just be obvious to Nick and Kylie that David knows, though...it probably should be already!

Just wanted to leave a quick comment about how weird I'm finding this sudden truce between Leanne and Peter. It's not just them being civil, it's them being OTT nice to each other - as if the last year and a bit never happened! Very contrived

Yeah, I know what you mean. As much as I enjoyed Monday's eps (yet to catch up on last night's ep), it was all a bit sudden considering the last time we saw them together on screen, they were probably arguing. It would only take a couple of relatively short scenes in between then and now to make some kind of a truce seem firmer rather than just coming about so that David's scheming can work.

Hi guys, I also hope you are on the mend Mrs W. I'm glad you also find the Leanne/Peter cosiness weird, it is so unlikely and unrealistic at this point that it's totally unbelievable. I think the only way those two would be having these sentimental reminiscences is if they had actually got back together, otherwise there's no way that Leanne could be feeling so generous and affectionate towards her no good ex. It doesn't add up to me anyhow. I have to admit I like to see Leanne joking with Peter again, I can see some of her natural spark when she talks to him and I have to say as much as I'd like for her and Nick to be getting along so famously, to me they just aren't and don't. I just can't believe in them, there's a total void of passion there and I think Leanne is in a kind of stalemate situation until something gives. She seems to be returning to her old self, the warm and funny girl she deserves to be. Maybe if Nick and her had a lot more banter or something? do you think this?

I caught up with last night's episode just now. I thought that the interaction that Leanne had with Peter in that episode made a lot more sense, as it was not about nostalgia but more about what had been going on recently with Simon. That said, it's still a bit of a leap forward for them without any explanation as to how they managed to get to this 'normal' stage. I know that David has already tried with some seeds of doubt, but I really didn't think there was much for Gail to think that they are having an affair! A pigeonhole! Really!

Hello Gunner, i'm sorry but I have to argue a point with you here, hope you don't mind! It's just when you say that Leanne and Peter weren't being nostalgic, well I think that's what I would call it when they were reminiscing over a wildlife program they had watched together and Peter was remembering how Leanne had cried. I mean we all know how it is when sharing some old memories like this, it's warm and cosy and fond and there had to be a bit of this going on between them, however brief. I'm surprised Leanne would even feel comfortable being so familiar with Peter in Nick's presence to be honest, but of course it had to suit the storyline for the plot's devices. I also just wanted to ask if you or anyone also thinks that Leanne is much more flirtatious and giggly with Peter even now? I notice this very much and I enjoy to see Leanne being so animated.Though it has been nice to see where Leanne and Nick are living and the set up there, when Leanne was parked on the sofa at the flat, she didn't exactly look like part of the furniture there, if you pardon the pun It all seems a bit empty and unlived in too me, and they're going to have to work hard to rectify this. I think Nick could show a lot more passion and enthusiasm to be honest, and Leanne could be a lot more interested in him also. It's like when she noticed he was paranoid about what she'd been up to and was troubled she didn't try to resolve it at all but simply announced that she was off to bed. I find this to be very out of character, she usually is caring and considerate and doesn't like problems to fester. What the heck is going on I don't know, but either way, I'd like to see some sort of permanence or sense of something being allowed to develop and grow for a change for Leanne in particular. That's just my wee sunday rant for now. Hope you are all well,

I find the problem with Nick/Leanne is that Nick just doesn't seem relaxed. Now that's going to sound stupid because he's got a hell of a lot to worry about at the moment, but pushing that aside for a sec...

Peter and Leanne always seemed to have a fun, flirty spark between them. Andrea, you've pretty much nailed it when you mentioned the lack of banter between Nick/Leanne. I honestly can't see Nick and banter going together. It's as if he's too uptight to properly relax with Leanne and laugh and joke around with her. There never seems to be any intimacy or playfulness between them; in fact the relationship seems very clinical(?) the majority of the time. The closest we got was the day the flat was trashed when Leanne was flirting/playfully seducing Nick - but that whole bit felt awkward and quite embarrassing due Nick almost being unresponsive. There was passion between Leanne and Peter but there seems to be none with Nick. Even this new "platonic" relationship between Leanne and Peter is filled with fun and playful gibes. I can't see Nick ever at ease like that with Leanne.

Hi Mrs Wilder, i'm waving back at you. I'm glad someone else agrees with what I'm saying re old Nick,lol. I do like Nick a lot, but I'm guessing his pretty much a stiff upper lip and yes, uptight sort of guy. There's nothing wrong with that of course but unfortunately if like as you've suggested that there's not going to be any banter or frolics between him and Leanne, as I agree with you is probly the likelihood, then they are doomed really. I'd really have hoped to see more long lingering looks and the odd bit of gentle teasing by now, but not in the way they have tried to move Peter and Carla along, their banter seems to mostly resort to strained innuendo a lot of the time. I'm thinking mostly about the way this arrangement is impacting on Leanne. It isn't right that we are only getting to see the light hearted, playful side of her when she's conversing with Peter, it makes her relationship with Nick seem all the more off kilter. Also it's allowing the persistent dyed in the wool Leanne knockers on the forum to carry on referring to her as humourless and sanctimonious, which just couldn't be any more unfair and untrue for our Leanne.They are actually still describing her this way still, even today i noticed I think if the writers can't get it together for Nick and Leanne and inject that necessary life into them as a couple, they maybe should use the baby revelation as a means to extracting her out of this dead loss relationship and find her someone else to work with who she can really spark off, as that's what she does best. I still question why they ever split her and Peter up? And then they claim to be looking at the bigger picture I can't think of anyone else Leanne would connect brilliantly with but I'm working on it. I'll be back to let you know when I've found someone good enough

BIB: No, I don't mind at all! In the post of mine that you've quoted, from 27th June, I was talking about the episode on the 26th, which I felt fitted better because it was just Leanne and Peter discussing what had been going on recently, i.e. Simon making his silly faces. The 'March of the Penguins' convo was on Monday 24th, and was definitely nostalgic! So I think we're on the same page! I feel that if they'd started off this interaction with much less nostalgia then it just would have fitted better plot-wise, rather than feeling like it was being engineered to fit with David's scheming.

With regards to Leanne/Nick, I suppose Leanne was just tired with Gail sniping at her, then Nick being all worried. But you're right, she didn't seem overly concerned as to why he was so suspicious and upset all of a sudden. I was glad to see them at home (hope they can keep that up), but again, it just feels like it's not really about their relationship per se, and rather more about David's plot.

I don't think there was a lof of chemistry when Nick wasn't carrying around his secret, although perhaps we could certainly ascribe some of his recent behaviour to guilt. I don't know if there just has to be tension between them to keep all of the baby plot/David's revenge ticking over. Although if they were happier, the blow would be even more crushing...


BIB: Absolutely, but I suppose that could be the point. I still think that everything we've seen on screen leads me to believe that Leanne/Nick won't survive the fallout.

I agree with a lot of this, although I have to disagree that Leanne isn't sanctimonious now; she is, but only because the writers have made her that way. since the split with Peter, the writing for her has been quite horrendous and I've read on the main forum that some original Leanne fans have gone right off her because of how she's been written lately - and I can understand that. Splitting up her and Peter has done the character no favours imo. The pairing with Nick lacks spark and until the contrived truce, her attitude post P&C (although totally understandable) began to grate.

That being said, I don't think Leanne's a lost cause. I think that the baby reveal should end Nick/Leanne for good and she should move on as an independent character. However, I worry that the baby reveal, as well as the Karl stuff, may trigger the angry, 'me-against-the-world' Leanne again


BIB - Me neither and I think it's a big problem. I know Leanne will be devastated (and I'm sure JD will play a blinder) but I won't be overly bothered if L&N don't survive; and that's largely because they don't ring true as a couple. L&P really did work and that made the whole Carla affair reveal all the more painful to watch.

But Peter had it spot on and I found myself agreeing with nearly everything he said. In fact, they were almost my thoughts entirely. Nick does seem too dull and lifeless for Leanne. Echoing what I've said in my previous post, where's the pizazz? Leanne's always good when she has someone to bounce her banter off and Nick does not fulfill this role. Plus, how true is it that all Peter needs to do is click his fingers? There's no denying it. The reconciliation scene just felt flat too. Leanne telling Nick she loves him never sounds genuine.

BIB: Yes, I think the character's future is a real worry, because the baby reveal is bound to be another setback, but I do agree that independence would probably do her the world of good.




It's odd, though, because they did have some measure of chemistry during their affair and I don't think that's because they were enjoying the secrecy. I know that Nick is meant to be the safe option, but that doesn't mean he has to be so safe that everything's almost stagnant. I've never watched the affair reveal again, simply because I just want to remember how amazing it was, how Jane was just so good with the pain and disbelief.



I don't know why Leanne seemed so flat about her birthday from the outset, I can't see that she had any reason to feel that way about it. OK, so maybe she has bad form with birthdays (), but there didn't seem to be much that should have affected the way she felt last night until it all started kicking off.

I did feel a bit bad for her when everything kicked off in the street, what a way to spend your birthday! It was a shame that it all had to blow up on that day, but I don't suppose David really cares about that. He might feel that Leanne is partly to blame because of Christmas, but seeing as he's so focused on Nick, he really doesn't seem to be bothered about the collateral damage.

Yes, I think Peter's observations were pretty spot on and he was probably pleased to have the chance to rile Nick, in spite of all the wild accusations. Yet, still, after months of peace, nobody smells anything fishy or wonders why David acted so strangely all of a sudden...

Ooo! I haven't seen this! I'll be amazed if he does. Nick's got a rep for being a coward after all.



Maybe it's the thrill of the chase? I don't know. Now that he's finally got Leanne back, he doesn't come across as a guy who's smitten

BIB - I haven't given it a re-watch either. I don't particularly want to see P&L ending again. It sucked enough the first time


I don't think David's got much beef with Leanne now (though he was obviously against her in the aftermath of the wedding shambles) so I think it is more collateral damage. He probably doesn't feel as bad about it because of what happened at Christmas ie. Leanne only went back to Nick because Peter chickened out of a reunion when Carla came back. Really, L&N's marriage is pretty easy to mess with as it's so flimsy.


I said this in the ep thread. It's like they've all got their thick heads on. David's being off with all of them and they can't work out any possible reason why he might be angry?

Oh, yeah, it was very sad, but just such a tremendous episode, so well written and performed. It was only half an hour but I felt like it went on for much longer because I was so wrapped up in it.

Something odd happened tonight...at the start of the episode, the continuity announcer said that Leanne was in Nick's bad books. Didn't seem right to me! He wasn't exactly angry with her during the episode.

Anyway...not much to comment on apart from Peter being a wind-up merchant, Nick rising to the bait and Leanne trying to keep the peace, which all felt somewhat familiar.

I'm really curious about where Corrie will take Leanne's character if she splits with Nick - I'd really like to see her as an independent women looking to adopt a child?

Why adopt a child when she already has Simon?
