Hello all, just checking back in. I hope all's well.
Have a fab holiday, k9.

Adopting? Not for me. I don't want her playing mum again to someone else's kid. Leanne deserves a child of her own and I'd preferably not want it to be with Nick or Peter. In fact, I think Leanne would benefit with a totally fresh OH. Having her ping-pong between Nick and Peter is lazy and I think it really limits her character. Ideally, this baby reveal should kill of N&L for good and be the beginning of independent Leanne who doesn't feel she needs a man to survive. Depending on how long JD stays on the Street, Leanne could easily still be around when fresh meat is brought in, character-wise, and Leanne could be steered towards that rather than the same old recycled plots.”
I wouldn't be totally against having a story line where Leanne adopted a child. I think it certainly would be meaty and interesting, but I tend to agree with MsW that the most satisfying outcome would be Leanne having her own child. It would be a struggle, but worthwhile IMO.

I felt bad for Leanne last night. I thought she was definitely thriving at organising the student night (but, writers, hello, in JULY?) and in then networking and being determined to put things right. It probably would have been a success if not for David's interference. So, as she pointed out, she had the dual mistrust from NIck, firstly, over Peter and her birthday, where she had done nothing wrong, and then, secondly, over the failure last night, which, as we know, wasn't her fault.
Even before the reveal of the massive secret, they're on such shaky ground. And, as we said before, it really hasn't been difficult for David to open the little cuts in their relationship and turn them into a big, gaping wound.
I wonder how much of David's revenge will be revealed...if it will be clear that everything was being worsened because he was manipulating everything.

BIB - I almost feel as if there should be tally to record just how many times Leanne has said "You don't trust me, do you?" to Nick lately! It's like the writers are oh-so-subtly (
) saying that N&L are too weak to survive.
I remember how insecure Leanne was with Peter trusting her, post Nick affair. Deep down, she was convinced he hadn't really forgiven her and she was genuinely upset by that idea. It seems like a different story with Nick. Nick doesn't trust her, but she's actually defensive about it rather than feeling guilty about making him feel that way (like she was with Peter). It's like Corrie knows the relationship is a joke and they're going out of their way to prove it.”
BIB: Yes, absolutely, it all deserved better than that, because the big drama just seemed to come and go with little of the actual repercussions being played out.
BIB2: It all feels like a bit of a waste, tbh. They started off on shaky ground, got better, then they got married under a cloud and now David's doing his best to help ruin it all. Not exactly conducive to a good long-term future.
