As for Peter, it doesn't look like he's going to redeem himself anytime soon. Looks like him and Carla are going to hit the bottle at the same time. Plus, he's still being ridiculously stubborn over Simon. Dragging him through the bar to take him home when he wants to stay with Leanne? I hope Leanne intervenes.”

Yea I agree it was very out of character, they obviously did it because it made the whole thing even more dramatic and sadder than it was.

No Peter soon doesn't, he even sounded dare I say it a bit tired already of Carla last night. I can't even see him and Carla lasting past easter if they even make it that far.Peter will I'd say, he is a weak man overall. I think it's horrible of him to drag Simon like that esp as it'll obviously be when he blames Carl for reporting him to the council.

RE Him and Peter-wasPeter trying to say he was mad Karl was in the bookies last night or surprised he was in after what he did to Leanne?

BIB - I noticed that too. I said in the ep thread that he sounded fed up with her. I hope Leanne steers clear of their problems though. I don't want her to try and use it as an opportunity to try to claw Peter back. She should leave them to it. I want her on her own for a while with Simon. Peter's made his bed.

Re Karl. I think Peter meant that since Stella's incensed with him, he was amazed that Karl went in. I think Peter assumed Stella would forbid Karl to go in there due to loyalty to Leanne.

It'd be interesting to see if Peter would've been attracted to Carla if she was still the strong, independant businesswoman she used to be, rather than the fragile, scared victim.

I also agree that Carla is probably suffering with PTSD. None of her issues have been addressed, the drinking or the rape. Peter's not addressing his problems either ie. Simon's attitude. Their refusal to seek any outside help other than sole reliance on each other is only going to intensify their problems. That's why the platonic friendship worked better imo. Carla and Peter turned to each other to let off steam, but then went back to their individual lives.

BIB - I totally agree with this. I've reduced my posting in Carla/Peter/Leanne threads on the main forum because of this very issue. The same arguments are just thrown about over and over again and it's boring. Some posters are obviously WUMs, others may not be but there's no debate. It's more like "you're wrong, my character is better". There are still a few posters out there who you can have a good discussion with though. My loyalty lies with Leanne, but I still recognise Carla as a huge, well-acted character and I enjoy watching her. But sometimes it feels you can't like both ”

I don't think fairytale love really exists, especially not in soaps. I do agree that I think part of the appeal with Carla is that she is more needy in a way and he likes the feeling of as you say 'playing the hero'. Thing is, I think he was attracted to her even before the rape, he tried to fight his feelings (successfully) but it was when he'd seen her at her lowest point that he realized his feelings for her.

I sometimes find this storyline rather confusing if I'm honest, as there are so many different ways to interpret it. I do agree that their platonic relationship was in many ways better, especially for them, although I do like them as a couple.

I have a feeling that this storyline is heading for hurt for everyone involved. I think all characters are victims in their own ways.

I agre to be honest I see Peter as being so selfish and weak at the min he doesn't deserve Leanne. Unless he turns a serious corner she's better to try her best with Simon and to stay out of their crap. Although I can see her enjoying winding Carla up

Yea I was unsure... Karl's gonna get found out though!!! But sure remember Carla had the cheek to be in the rovers the day after the whole affair came out.

I agree that it'll end in tears for everyone. I don't believe C&P can last, and if Peter ends up wanting to reconcile with Leanne then I can see the whole thing hanging over them and being used to score points during any future troubles.

BIB - I think that's why it's so interesting to follow. For once there's been a build up, and you can see all sides of the argument. It's not just a "they're wrong, they're right" scenario. Also, as you said earlier, it involves the strongest actors and they all work so well together.

I wouldn't want Leanne to be that desperate to take Peter back immediately if him and Carla split. But I would like to see them back together at some point. I do love them together.

Argh, I have to disagree with Jane on this
This is the one thing I don't want to happen. Too predictable. Plus a big thing was made of there being considerably less chance of her conceiving naturally, so that would have to be ignored. I prefer what she said about the "quest" going on longer. It would be more true to the story she's been given.

I, too, think that Peter loves acting the knight in shining armour; he has never, I think, had that role before in his life. But I doubt he could keep that up for ever. He and Carla were fine in their "comfort bubble of foreverness" when there was no outside distraction or stress, such as a young boy or a wife, and Leanne still is Peter's wife. But both find outside stresses difficult to cope with. Neither has stopped drinking. Both need professional help.

Their platonic friendship could still work in the future provided that Peter was open and honest with his wife without deception as previously, and that his wife accepted that, difficult though it would be for her.

I have put several WUMs / trolls on my ignore list; this is fine until their posts are quoted in a reply, then I can see them again; doh!

I am so looking forward to Leanne's return.

Personally, I would love Leanne to find that she is pregnant with her husband's baby As she had no reason to think their marriage was in trouble, she and Peter must have been as husband and wife at home

By the way, when I said I would love Leanne to find that she is pregnant with her husband's baby, I would not want she and Peter to immediately reconcile - no way!

Totally o/t scene with carla and maria, I'd forgotten how badly she treated Maria after her incident with Frank.

Peter and Leanne went through so very much together that I hope once both have managed to stand on their own feet, metaphorically speaking, separately, then by the end of the year they can be together again as man and wife with a solid foundation to a firmer permanent relationship.

I've got a feeling it may be a snatched 5 minutes with Stella at the end and the bigger stuff will be next week.

Stella needs to calm down a bit! As much as I love her, she goes charging in, shooting her mouth off before she knows the facts - meaning a lot of humble pie will be served to her soon! I like her being the protective mum, but Leanne can fight her own battles (and will do as we shall see next week!). Stella needs to back off now she's said her piece and just be there for Leanne. They need to properly build on the mother/daughter relationship.

As an aside, I'd actually want Leanne and Eva to be on good terms somewhere along the line. I think they'd be good allies. Leanne had a nice sisterly relationship with Toyah, so her and Eva should really try for one too.

I have to disagree I think it is her place to have a say in such matters,up until three weeks ago Leanne was Simons main carer. Plus I despise Carla so enjoy seeing her being taken down a peg or two.

Yes. I love the way the pair of them just let fly! Plus, I've noticed they've got similar hairstyles! In the spoiler pics, there's a real resemblance!

The showdown at the school gates was very exaggerated. I was expecting a massive scene!
Peter refused to pay out and Karl got angry!
