First off, JD has been absolutely outstanding this past week, from the hostage situation to her breaking down in the flat after Simon was in bed. God I hope she wins something at next year's BSAs.

I know I scoffed at the promo pictures but I was genuinely taken in by it. JD was great and she really made me feel scared for Leanne after Curly Simon and McMutton had made their escape; loved the way she flew at Dan in rage too! It was horrible to see her breaking down as Dan told Simon about her past. He took genuine pleasure in poisoning Simon's mind - what a scumbag! The only silver lining at the end of all of that was that Simon showed he wasn't devoid of all feeling for Leanne as he was truly worried about her still being in danger, but we all know that's not going to last”
Yes after watching it, I thought it was fantastic but I just wish it was a bit more spread out. I loved the way she attacked Dan, a true Battersby

Dan was an odious little man, it wasn't Leanne who went gobbing off to his daughter, it was McMutton. The tension was great as I felt scared for Leanne (even Liz) and what he was going do to them. As Dan started to tell Simon, you could see Leanne's face slowly drop and her sadness of finding out. Great to see Leanne would do anything to protect Simon from Dan.

“Until she decided the most tactful way to deal with Dan, without endangering Leanne and Simon's relationship, was to publically humiliate the guy in front of his boss and daughter...In fact, she also took a bit of a warped delight in letting his daughter know so rather hypocritical in berating him for doing the same to Simon. She did sort of enjoy telling Tracy that Amy was trapped in the burning flat too; weird
Don't get me wrong, Dan's pure filth but it really wasn't a smart move to announce it like that. What did Liz think was going to happen? He was just going to slink off in shame? She was made aware of his violent tendencies so why provoke him in that way and not expect payback?? Stupid, McMutton, very stupid.”
I can understand Liz was furious as she had every right to be and finding out Dan was another wrong 'un probably tipped her over the edge after the whole Tony saga. But knowing what Dan was like and the fact he has a past of violence, any normal woman would just finish it by saying it's not working out etc especially she knew what was at stake, it took Leanne a lot of guts to spill the beans about Dan as she had to bring up her past which she would want left behind.

Crikey, the last time I played tennis it was with a wooden racquet!

I haven't picked up a racket in years either, well not since I left home.

“I liked it that beforehand, when Liz brought up her concerns to Steve and Michelle, Michelle referred to Leanne as "an honest girl". It shows that she's come a long way since her past and that people are able to think of her in a good light in the present.”
BIB - yes, I loved that. So nice to see that most of the street are no longer judging her on her call girl days, great of Michelle to say that, especially with Leanne's history with the Connors. Thats one of my favourite things about Leanne, she has developed so much since 1997, from the teenage tearaway to a desperate and alone women and then to a loving mother.

“In fairness to Blackburn, the Emmerdale live ep from 2012 (I think it was the 50th anniversary) was really well done. Fair enough if it was Jane's choice, though. The tram crash is still legendary in my opinion. What a performance.”
Ah I don't watch Emmerdale, just with the upcoming stories that are going to coincide with the live episode I didnt think Blackburn's episode was going to be any good but I suppose I better hold judgement.

“I suppose it was shock, but Liz and Simon surely could have done something (or do we need Ken for that?) to help out? Dan wasn't armed or anything and there were plenty of kitchen implements to hand in the vicinity. At one point, with Leanne cowering in the corner near a stack of board games, I did wonder if she might fling the Ker-Plunk at Dan and leave him reeling with rainbows of straws in front of his eyes for ever more!”
I agree with this, Dan is hardly a strong man, just a drunken tosser. I would have thought Liz might have tried something especially as we got her hit and punch Tony in the next episode. Or throw a chair at him etc.

You are absolutely right, Leanne was on the straight and narrow when got together with Peter as I think she finally learnt her lesson after that disastrous lottery scam with Janice as I think Janice had to do community service, it also ruined Leanne's relationship with that Bookie. She was the stability for Simon and Peter which was great as thats when we saw Leanne in a new light. Admittedly I wouldn't best pleased finding out my mum was previously a prostitute, I wouldn't hold it against her and certainly not call her in that rude manner.

The disintergration of her and Simon's was all so horrible to watch but that last scene did it for me. The way the camera panned around a broken Leanne to show that picture of her and Simon hugging was such a horribly bittersweet touch. I started tearing up when Chesney buzzed to check she was ok; trying to sound breezy but with a shaking voice and tears in her eyes was heartbreaking. Next thing, she was sliding down the door and starting to sob and that was it, I was gone. Leanne just looks so defeated, like she's lost her spark and it's so sad to watch. Traumatic childhood or not, Simon's become a right little bastard
I'd never condone violence towards children, but since he's a fictional character I feel no guilt in saying that I'd like to see Leanne snap and give him a good pasting!! But...back to Soapland: Leanne's being far, far too soft on him and I can only put a lot of that down to all the crap that's been flung her way recently. Like I said before, her spark's gone and she looks totally drained so I'm not surprised she's in no fit state to lay down the law to Simon. That being said, her feeble pleas to talk everything out with Simon are obviously never going to get through since he's too angry to reason with, plus he's storming out every five seconds so Leanne's got no chance of controlling him with just words at the moment.
On the plus side, I'm really glad Zeedan's moved out of scowling, "she's a slapper" mode and is actively involved in Leanne's life. It was nice to see him going up to the flat to try and 'save' Leanne, as well as helping out after Dan had been carted away. If one good thing is going to come out of this abuse SL then I imagine it'll be Leanne's relationship with Zeedan strengthening and she needs all the friends she can get right now. That's another thing that was made very clear at the end of Wednesday's episode - just how alone Leanne is right now
Hurry up and get back to the cobbles, Eva, you sister needs you!
Hope everyone's good? Yes, Gunner, I'm ok, thanks
I'm a bit worn out though because it's been a bit of a busy week, as was last weekend! Going to make this weekend a lazy one, so I can recover

I'm not going to lie, I was already welling up when Leanne was talking about her childhood, you can still see all these years later, it still affects her and that was part of the reason her falling off the rails and marrying Nick at such a young age as she did not know what was right and wrong. Great to see Chez checking Leanne is okay (remember he is Leanne's adopted step brother!). When she started crying, it was so obvious that she isn't, it was just so heartbreaking to watch and by then I was a blubbering mess.
Oh your so right about Leanne's spark being gone, she looks so depleted now, she has always managed to fight back and bring out the inner Battersby like after Peter's affair with Carla, the only other time Leanne lost her spark was when Nick slapped her and when her prostitution was discovered. Yes Simon has had a tough childhood but a lot of those things happened years ago when Peter was on the booze (the fire, Peter's drunken behaviour etc). It's not unusual to loose grandparents during childhood / close friends, tbh the only things that stick out is Nick's brain injury, the custody battle, Peter leaving and obviously Lucy dying. Simon's has had two parents and grandparents who love him, it's not like he grown up in poverty etc. I'm such an uncaring person!
Oh gawd, I can't believe I'm saying this but the Nazirs are growing on me, jeez even Yasmen. I quite like Zeedan, it's nice he has taken Simon under his wing. It was good to see Leanne talk with some of the neighbours like Beth outside the Kabin, she needs to mix with more people IMO.
Hope everyone is well!
