I have no idea TBH, but they have released an update since then I believe. So hopefully they have fixed that. It can't be that difficult to fix...

You really should have a dedicated clock (I can't believe the amount of non-iPhone owners who now suddenly have no clock in their rooms ) if you need to get up for work. A phone should never be used as your main wake-up device.”

I'm still confused as to why you shouldn't rely on a feature that comes pre-installed and on the homescreen of the device.

It says alarm clock so it should work as an alarm clock right?

How are people meant to know this knowledge that you have gained that they shouldn't rely on their Apple product and instead should buy another alarm clock.

They've also known about this issue as it's happened before and failed to fix it letting their customers down.

My microwave has an alarm feature. I don't take it up to bed every night to set it beeping at 7:30.

I use my alarm clock. Because it's a clock, with an alarm, designed to wake me up for work.

Your microwave isn't as portable though is it?

Why have apple put the feature in their phone if it wasn't meant to be used?

Why so you defend apple so much that it is the stupid consumers fault for using a feature on the homescreen of the phone as factory default?

As a human being, if I had to ensure I rise early enough to make it to my job I'd have an alarm clock - I wouldn't use my phone as an alarm.

But I forgot. . . .all you guys don't have clocks in your rooms.

I have a sneaking suspicion they created the New Year bug by fixing the DST bug....

I've said its a shame that the alarm doesn't work for 2 days of the owners use of the phone but also that it isn't a massive hyperbolic issue. As it's Apple of course, the thread was made and had posts from the usual (non-affected, non-iPhone owners) suspects.

Should I buy a £10 mobile phone as a backup in case my iPhone decides not to work on certain days of the year?

Honestly Soundburst, listen to yourself.

Do you need to ensure you get up every day?

Don't buy a £10 phone as an alarm. . . buy a £5.99 alarm clock as an alarm like the rest of the globe.

Oh I forgot. . . nobody owns alarm clocks anymore. . .

No.

Should I buy a £10 mobile phone in case the phone function of the iPhone stops working on certain days? That is your solution to a problem right? Duplication. I should get two cars, two microwaves, two season tickets too, right?

I note how you cleverly avoided answering.

What? The iPhone will always make phone calls. Are you confused?

Likewise an Alarm clock will always wake you up with an alarm.

I get up in the mornings using one. . . but apparently I'm the only one who uses said phenomenon.

When the feature actually works, it's "revolutionary" and "visionary", "better than everyone else", etc.

When it doesn't work, we should buy a dedicated item that does the job, and what were we thinking - why would a basic feature on a hideously expensive phone actually work?

oddly i would expect my 500 quid phone to be more reliable than something i got for 5 quid from argos.

If it's so obvious that you shouldn't use your iphone as an alarm i don't understand why you won tell me what other backup devices you need to have. I think this would be useful advice for all these iphone users who didn't know that they weren't supposed to use the alarm.

Apart from when you hold it a certain way of course. I'm not confused - but you appear deluded.

Just for your information, we all know that bluffing and diverting is a classic troll tactic.

Just the alarm to wake you up I presume.

It's possibly the most important part of the day. Getting up for work. I'd always ensure I have an alarm clock if I want to get up.

In fairness I expected nothing less from Soundburst, he's very predictable and will make any kind of excuse or twist any scenario when it comes to Apple talk.

Some might say. . .the non-iPhone owners on DS are even more predictable when an issue arises.

Not all iPhone users are as predictable as you when it comes to defending apple. Some will richly criticise because they aren't biased.

And some will, because without any doubt ... they are.

Vallhund please give your considered response to this issue.

I've been looking forward to it and it would be unfair of you to deprive me of that pleasure.

please Vallhund. please link to a survey that shows 97% of iPhone users rate the alarm working as the least important feature of a smart phone.

on another note. do apple ever apologise for these kinds of things or do they just issue statements confirming the problem?

The app store is full of free Alarm Clock apps that offer more features than the default app. This is a silly software bug that all phones get, if you need an alarm download a free app, easy fix. BTW This is why I always use 2 alarms in the morning because even good alarm clocks fail sometimes.

It could be worse, my text messages could end up going to the wrong person... http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9392 which was reported over 6 months ago and still not fixed!
