I imagine with the code being open source we the public can spot many problems before they happen.

Its got a lot more to go wrong though.

Its not a bug. The whole idea is that Microsoft, Sony Erricson etc will lose money with employees turning up late etc, putting Apple ahead in the shares index. My cousin is quite high up in Apple and knows all the tricks & secrets.

WHAT?! That's absurd! If anything, a higher proportion of Apple employees are going to have Apple products. Microsoft and Sony Erricson staff are more liekly to have their products.

Even if they do, the impact of a few people being a few minutes late will be negligible.

Obviously the 2012 and onwards 1st and 2nd January holidays are now patented.

Look for the two little red Apples on your calendars.

I think the person who posted those comments forgot to add one of these, ( ), at the end.

Not turning this into an android vs iPhone argument but saying the android platform does not have "daft problems" is just plain wrong! What about that excellent bug where it sends your text to a random person as well as/instead of the intended recipient?

Its software and its gonna have bugs. Doesnt matter how big the company is theres no way ANY piece of software can be bug free.

Indeed. All these operating systems are constantly evolving and being updated - naturally bugs will exist and new bugs will be found. The latest version on Android hasn't been with us very long and neither has iOS 4.x

This has been mentioned several times by the usual suspects, but no one can answer why it has taken months for this bug to become newsworthy.

Also, I don't know anyone (at least 10 Android users of varying models/OS versions), myself included, that has suffered it. That suggests that it isn't quite a showstopper as some like to think.

Meanwhile, this is the second time that the iPhone's alarm clock doesn't work (and is a much more widespread issue). So much for Apple's brilliant software engineers.
