I watched this last night, and really enjoyed it.
He always gives a great show!

Alison Moyet, Vampire Weekend and Cee-Lo Green were among the guests last night, and most were amazing.

The only one I was really disappointed was Kylie Minogue.
She was just... bad, and sort of embarrassing...

I thought Kylie was the best. She sounded fantastic and sang perfectly intune the whole way through, apart from those high notes at the end of Love At First Sight, but I've heard her mess them up in person aswell, while I've also heard her hit them perfectly. You have to remember she's not the kind of artist that generally suits that kind of band. Give her her tour band and she sings pretty much perfectly, see here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIn9iPPnisI < Go on, give it a chance and see lol.

Atleast she's a 100% live singer, unlike most "pop stars".

Alison Moyet still sounded pretty good, and Cee Loo Green was pretty fantastic aswell.

The rest, crap.

I loved Plan B, although the 'Stay Too Long' performance got a bit mad at the end.

I watch it every year, and LOVE it. Kylie, Ceelo, and the woman who sounded a bit like Dusty Springfield were all great!

It focused a little too heavily on those ageing 'legends', for my taste. Considering all the great, current, British talent this year (Adele, Ellie, Marina, XX, Biffy etc.) that could have had one of their multiple slots, it seemed wasteful. It's what Jools does though, every year it seems.

The Elizabeth Taylor look alike licking her finger at the end of her Winehouse cover

Really couldn't get into Alison Moyet either.

Liked everyone else though. Plan B, Cee-Lo, Secret Sisters, Rumer, Vampire Weekend and Kylie did well I thought.

Oh and that band singing about whiskey - they were fun.

although only initially watching for kylie (who i obviously thought was fab) i really enjoyed vampire weekend, plan b, cee lo and rumer (who was amazing!)

That woman licking her finger at the end of her winehouse cover was hilarious

I really enjoyed that folk band Bellowhead, they were great, as well as Vampire Weekend, Cee Lo Green and those sisters were good singers.

I forgot about Wanda Jackson, she was a highlight, hilariously brilliant.

with a name like yours you arnt going to give an exactly impartial view are you!

in reality she was pretty poor... over 20 years in the biz and shes still not got the acument alison moyet has... and always had... back in the 80's moyet could and did give a seriese of fantastic live performances... whilst kylie mimed, because her voice was and still is weak.

funny thing is, i wantto like kylie, i really do, imho 'love at first sight' was the best thing shes done... but i cannot justify it, i cannot support her becuase she is what she always was... a by-product of a hit making machine which paid no heed to talent.

I forgot how good "Love At First Sight" was.
Wanda Jackson I didn't like much but she embodied Amy Winehouse totally. Vampire Weekend were nice and Cee-Lo did brilliantly performing one of my favourite no.1's of the year.

I love watching it every year.

I always watch Hootenanny too its like your own private party in the comfort of your own home
Where was the guy dressed as the clock this year ? Didn't notice him ?
And all the guests sing live which makes a change (you know who you are) & Jules plays the piano without music
Long live Hootenanny

It was really clever how the final performance of the year was Kylie singing Better Than Today. It will have encouraged the public to believe that 2011 would be "better than today" ie better than the year ending!

I caught up on it today and thought it was pretty rubbish compared to the last few imo with a really underwhelming line up. Wanda Jackson was hilarious though.

RayofLight is Madonna !

I know people think her voice is weak, but the woman can hit B5s and higher. She has a good voice, and doesn't "mime" anymore. But yeah, she did in the 80s, and mimed on TV shows up until her cancer. She's never mimed on tour though

I don't understand how somebody who hits practically every note, has nice tone and sings live can be seen as untalented. It's surprising to me.

DOH!..... id been drinking!

i think she was seen as untalented back in the 80's, because of her association with watermans hit factory. plus her multi tracked vocals on her early singles and her then inability to perform live.

ill give her credit though for learning to sing properly... im just not keen on her tone, and a singer who can sing is whats expected.

Kylie, CeeLo and Bellowhead were great, but so far (only watched an hour of it or so), Rumer was absolutely incredible.

Madonna sings live aswell, though not as much as Kylie. But the vast majority of her concert is completely live. Britney on the other hand barely sang a note on her " circus " tour.

Seriously, nobody who's seen videos of Madonna shows would say she mimes a lot, listen here:

If you compare her live voice with the 80s studio vocals in the background, her live voice is one hell of a lot stronger than her album vocals, just deeper.

Madonna's not my cup of tea anyway, so i wouldn't really know. I've just heard a lot about her..

+ Dont even get me started on Britney! How she gets away with it i don't know!

Lol, seen Madonna twice and been a fan a long time, and when you've seen/heard as many fan-recordings of her shows as I have or been to her shows, you can tell, in Manchester some of her singing was so uh, it made me wanna throw myself off the upper tier!

As for Britney, she's entertaining. Nuff said. I like her, I'd watch her, but I can fully understand why others might be wary.
