1. Lady GaGa - The Fame Monster - 5.8 million copies worldwide.
2. Eminem - Recovery - 5.7 million copies worldwide.
3.Justin Bieber - My World 2.0 - 5.6 million copies worldwide.

So it is official and like the rumours for the past month have stated.......Eminem is the real top seller of 2010 since the Fame Monster was released in 2009 not 2010. Although i will give Interscope Records credit, once again they screwed Eminem over and got the extra cash by selling the Fame Monster as a double disc album in a lot of countries particularly Europe where she is most popular.

So well done Interscope, you made a lot of money. But before Recovery was released Eminem had sold 81.5 million albums. He said so himself in an interview and when they named him Artist of The Decade, that means he has sold more than anyone else from the year 2000 - 2010 they were counting those figures so add the other 5.7 million from Recovery and you end up with nearly 88 million albums sold. That doesn't even count the 8 Mile Soundtrack or the 2 albums he did with D12 and it doesn't even include the amount of singles he has released. Let's see Ms GaGa can top those figures.

He has 7 solo albums. Only the solo albums were counted in those figures. Altogether his name is on 11 albums but they cannot be counted in his sales figures.

I've heard all three albums and I must admit none of them are particulary amazing. It's all about promotion, marketing, image, controversy, timing, fanbases and hype over actual quality. GaGa has released amazing singles (besides Alejandro) but her album tracks are pretty weak. Eminem has had much better albums, and Biebers was dire.

I don't think the issue in that list is GaGa versus Eminem. Both are unique and IMO fantastic artists.

the real concern is how an over-hyped, fake 'urban' act like Justin Bieber gets the 3rd biggest selling album of the year

Yeah, it's blatantly the same 5.6 girls buying the album a million times.

Surely that list is saying that Gaga sold 5.8 million in 2010 alone, not since release...so topping the list is justified, regardless of it being a 2009 album?

Why should it? The top selling albums list should be albums that were RELEASED in 2010.

Of course it shouldnt, it should be the album that sold the most in 2010.

They track the album sales of the year; any album ever could technically chart if it sells enough. The biggest sales of albums released in a single year isn't really a worthwhile list as it's not an accurate representation of what has sold. If you want that list, just remove all the ones released before 2011. I can't really see why it matters, personally, and I think if the situation was reversed you would not care either.

Ok we are not going to agree. I guess the good thing to come out of it is that it is only a difference of 100,000. Eminem sold 5.7 million in 6 months, it took her 12 months to sell 5.8.

This is one of the most bitter posts I have ever read in my life. It's quite hilarious actually. She took 12 months to sell 5.9million albums, despite the album coming out in 2008 (USA, Canada, Australia, some of Europe) or 2009 (UK, Japan, rest of Europe) and having already sold over 6million copies before the year began. If anything that makes her having the best-selling album of 2010 even more impressive. But hey, if you're going to judge success on how quickly people sell albums, it took 6 months for Eminem to sell 5.8million albums; it took 6 weeks for SuBo to sell 6million.

no it shouldn't...

doesn't matter when they were released, the list shows the TOP SELLERS of 2010.. and that's what they are..

I dont like Eminem, or JB. I 'like' GaGa but i'm not in love with her.
But i would agree that she deserves it. Her musics more unique than Eminems, well, in my opinion anyway

Shut Up.

Your forgetting how much she sold last year, and considering the album was released in 2008 (we got it in early 2009, 12th Jan i think - but we didn't get it first. US got it in like August of that year.) So to still sell 5.8 this year is amazing.

Yes, Gaga sold more than that in the 2 and halfs years of release. Plus susan boyles first album only has a couple of million on that list.

Yes, so basically Lady Gaga has sold more albums than anyone else this year, despite her album being released 1 or 2 years ago (depending where you live). It's impressive that she managed to maintain high sales throughout the year, too.

Overall, I believe Lady Gaga has sold around 13 million albums since the release of The Fame in 2008. That's huge in 2 years.

I don't know why the OP is trying to defend Eminem for something which he doesn't need defending against. Lady Gaga's album sales being included form 2010 is not a dig at him. Anyone who sold albums in 2010 - despite when it was originally released - will appear in the overall list.

I don't particularly like Eminem or Lady Gaga, but the facts are there...

13 million albums? LOL.

Fame/Fame Monster has sold 2 million in the UK. The Fame sold 3 million in America, Fame Monster sold a million in America. The remix album sold 500,000 worldwide. That's 6.5 million albums already, there's no way she sold another 6.5 million albums in the smaller markets of Australia, France, Ireland, Canada and Switzerland where it takes about 150K to be certified platinum.
