Simple question here guys.

Can programmes recorded on the hard drive of a Humax Foxsat be sent to a DVR and copied either to the hard drive on that machine, or direct to blank disc?

If so.......what is the connection setup?

Yes they can using a SCART lead. But of course HD recordings will be downscaled to SD.

Not bothered about HD.

What is the cable and socket configuration and procedure through the setup menu?

SCART socket to SCART socket using a SCART lead. Just start the recorder going from its SCART socket then start playing the recording on the Foxsat.

There are two scart sockets on the rear of both the Humax and the DVR. Does it not matter which they go to?

You'll want the output (probably labelled "TV" or something) on the Humax plugged into the input (probably labelled "SAT" or "DECODER" or "VCR" or something) of the DVD recorder - then you'll probably want to connect the "TV" port of the DVD recorder into your TV (unless you connect it some other way). Many devices nowadays send either input or output through one port, in which case, you may have to configure it in the menu.

If the dvdr can record from RGB use the hdr TV scart. If it can't do RGB but can do s-video use the vcr scart and set the hdr to output s-video. If only composite recording avaiable use either.

However you will then end up with both an HDMI and a SCART connection from the Foxsat to the TV. Which could be a problem as my TV was in the habit of switching from the HDMI input to the SCART input at the drop of a hat. In the end I cut Pin 8 on one of the SCART leads to stop it autoswitching.
