Pacific 1001 DVD Player

I read the lengthy thread on this forum re Pacific 1001 & 1002 DVD players from ASDA. Everyone seems to say these players will play just about anything.

Well I just bought a 1001 and it will not play my DVD-R discs. I tried the discs on some mates players and they play fine on Cyberhome, Dansai (from Tesco) and two other makes of player which I cannot recal the names of.

Any ideas what the problem mght be? I intend to try it with some Ritek or other G04 dye discs before taking it back to Asda.
