Talk Mobile..Cannot receive calls on new No.
My husband had a new phone for xmas. The package he had with the phone was with Talk Mobile and the new phone number began with 0742..
My husband did not mind using a new phone number and registered etc. We have tried phoning him from Vigrin network and Orange and we cannot get through. On the Virgin network it said the call from the new phone was barred. From Orange it was a continuous sound, no ring tone. We contacted them today, they have been having problems with this and that WE have to tell literally all the other networks so this number can be recognised and he can receive call from other networks. He can make phone calls to other mobile networks but he cannot receive any calls. What use is that? He cannot now even transfer his old number. We are thinking of taking it back to Car Phone Warehouse. Any advice would be appreciated. Thankyou |

I work in telecoms and this sort of mess is really annoying.
New number ranges are provided to all networks and they're given a date as to when they have to enable calls to the new ranges. Sadly not all networks bother to enable them in time. So, generally having the end user report the issue to the network it can't be called from is the quickest way to get it fixed. If you could provide the first six digits of the number I'll take a look at the range... You should be fine to port in an existing number, how come that's not allowed? |

Thankyou for your reply. The number starts with 0742. My husband went back to Carphone Warehouse on sunday. They said they will try to sort out the problem within the week. The assistant in CPW did contact someone and complained it should not be up to the customer to contact individual networks to register the new numbers. Hopefully this will be sorted.
If you know of any info that may be useful, please let me know. Thankyou |

Thankyou We weren't able to receive texts from O2, Virgin and Tesco. I rang the customer support line and they said it was the "other networks" fault and that our friends and family would have to contact their support lines. Naturally they told them that it was our networks fault and when I rang back they said it was the other networks fault etc. So I asked the guy why they couldn't get the other networks to sort it out to stop me having 2 new numbers that are not fit for purpose. He escalated this to his IT department in about a minute. Why the first one couldn't have done it I do not know. Probably out of laziness. This was on Sunday and he said it would take 3-5 days to sort out. Yesterday we both had a ton of texts through, my dads texts are bizarre enough let alone when they are a week late. ![]() So my advice is to ring them up and get them to sort it with the other networks for you. Unless they do this then your number is not fit for purpose, this appeared to be the magic words for me. |

Calls from Virgin to 07425
Virtually the same problem as you. I have spoken to Talkmobile and Virgin. Talkmobile looked at their internal message board and confirmed a problem with 07425 numbers not receiving calls, but no details. It seems to be a recent fault so it might take a while to fix.
The Virgin people didn't have a clue but they are sending me a new chip. I don't think that this will work as I have tried calling with a different Virgin chip from a different phone. Same result. I will update as and when something happens |

That code is a very new one: 074251
I work for a phone company and part of my job is adding in the new routing codes. This one is not even in the routing tables of the company I work for, yet. It looks like this range is just too new, most networks haven't added it into their routing yet. A change of number should be possible from the provider issuing the number. |
