The European Championships are taking place in Bern from January 23rd - 30th, but because my Husband had a belt tightening excersise and cancelled our TV package (£10 a month for TV programmes we never watched) I no longer have access to British Eurosport. I would be grateful to anyone who can watch it coming on here and posting the results....thankyou in anticipation!

I'll definitely be watching it when I can - there were some good discussion threads last year on here on the major Championships including the Olympics.

Do you have Red Button access? BBC usually has some coverage on there if so.

What about Eurosport Player on the British Eurosport website ?
It costs £3.99 to subscribe for a month .
I assume they will be showing the skating coverage ?
Has anyone tried it ?

Ice Skating – European Championships
Sunday 30 January
3.45-5.15pm BBC TWO

Sue Barker introduces highlights of ice skating's European Championships from Bern in Switzerland.

Carolina Kostner has been on the podium in each of the past five years and the Italian will be hoping to retain her ladies' title at the Postfinance Arena.

British interest will once again rest chiefly with Sinead and John Kerr in the ice dancing. The Scottish siblings won bronze two years ago in Helsinki but had to settle for fifth in Tallinn last year.

Just thought I'd bump this as these are starting on Wednesday. Have looked at the red button listings and can't find any coverage on there. Robin is actually going out to Switzerland tomorrow so it seems a bit of a waste to have him out there just for a highlights show. Red Button listings aren't always accurate so I would still look out for it if you don't have Eurosport.

For those of us who do, these are the details of their coverage & Nicky has confirmed he will be commentating for them with Chris Howarth for those of you missing him from the panel this year:-

Wed 26th 13:30-16:30 British Eurosport Original Dance
Wed 26th 19:10-21:30 British Eurosport Pairs Short Programme

Thurs 27th 13:00-17:00 British Eurosport Men's Short Programme
Thurs 27th 17:45-21:30 British Eurosport Pairs Free Skate

Fri 28th 13:00-17:15 British Eurosport Ladies Short Programme
Fri 28th 18:30-21:30 British Eurosport Pairs Free Dance

Sat 29th 17:45-19:30 British Eurosport Ladies Free Skate
Sat 29th 19:30-21:30 British Eurosport Mens Free Skate

Sun 30th 18:00-20:00 British Eurosport Exhibition Gala (think I may watch DOI on catch up after this - should easily finish before the skate off)

By the way these championships are taking place in Sheffield next year (last week of January again) but haven't found any details online of when tickets will go on sale.

Does anyone know what music Sinead and John are using this year? in the past they have skated to Muse and Linkin Park. They had to withdraw from the British Championships and the cup of Russia because Sinead had injured her shoulder!

Muse again - think it is from the latest album

The original dance is the Golden Waltz - not sure on their music for that

For the new SD which is the Golden Waltz and a Quickstep they are using ‘At Last’ by Etta James and ‘Shut up and let me go’ by the Ting Tings. The FD is to Exogenesis: Symphony, Pt. 3: Redemption by Muse which they had an exhibition program to last year.

If you search on youtube you can find vids of both routines from Skate Canda as well as their new exhibition which is to the theme from Mad Men.

Just about to watch the Pairs Short Programme. Couldn't watch the dance earlier but pleased that John & Sinead went well especially as she has been injured for quite a while this season.

Really good standard in the Pairs after a slow start and have to say Robin & Aliona were just brilliant & fully deserved their lead. So pleased they are back to their very best this year - I could literally watch those two skate all day.

You wouldn't have known Sinead had been injured, they were excellent. Keeping my fingers crossed they can hang on to the bronze medal.

Me too, they are wonderful. The Russians were wonderful too but I want Robin and Aliona to win.

Nice to see you here again yellowlabbie.

They looked very good on the recap they showed in the middle of the pairs programme on Eurosport. I agree as well the Russians look good & could be ones to watch leading up to the next Olympics - I was never a fan of Domnina/Shabalin but these 2 looked exciting to watch.

Thank you Tiger Rose
I love ice-skating, I have watched it on TV for more years than I care to mention I've even had a go with my kids a few times.
The Russians were looking good in the ice-dancing as well, 3 very good couples.

Pairs Free was fantastic tonight. Robin & Aliona were fantastic as usual but not flawless, especially with her losing balance in the spin. Right result with them winning overall but Smirnov & Kavaguti winning the Free. Robin & Aliona deserved it on their short programme. Stacey Kemp had a really nasty looking fall towards the end of their routine - I think she's OK but she did look badly winded/shocked afterwards which is not surprising.

I only saw a bit of the men's today but the French guy looked fantastic.

Free Dance tomorrow evening - come on John & Sinead.
