Foxsat - Rescording Two...Watching Third?
Can people just clarify something who's obviously been using this box or indeed FreeSat for longer than what i have.
To begin with i have two input feeds. I understand you can record two channels at once and watch a third.....but the third channel you try to watch can only be watched depending on what two channels are being recorded? For example, i recorded ITV1 Central, and Channel 4, and i was unable to watch BBC East Midlands and a few others. This is because they are on the same multiplex? I have read somewhere that this only happens when recording a Regional channel because they come on the same multiplex? Is that right? Please correct me if i'm wrong and its not a problem that i'm experiencing? |

Download this htm file and open it in your browswer
http://www.4shared.com/document/baZ3...icMK2_011.html Look at column 4, you will see the entire programme list is split into 4 blocks identified by a different colour. This is the mode that the tuner switches the lnb into to receive any of the channels in that block. Now look at Columns 1-4, these show which transponders carry which channels. Here's the rules With two cables You can record any two channels at the same time. The third channels you can record depend on the two recording channels If both are from the same transponder - you can watch any other channel and also time shift it. If they are on different transponders then you can watch (but not time shift) any channel sharing a transponder with either recording. With one cable plus the loop The rules are the same as two cables except that the second channel recording is restricted to the block indicated in col 4. Try starting an instant recording on both the BBC-HD channels. Two cable users will be able to view and time shift any other channel, single cable any other channel in the same block. Because there are multiple bbc regions in the two low band blocks single cable users can very often make a second channel recordable by electing to record a different region One cable users will be able to view \and time shift any other channel in the block labelled LBV (Low Band Vertical) |

This is because they are on the same multiplex? You have two tuners, each can tune into a different frequency. I haven't checked to make sure but I would guess your problem was due to the fact that ITV1 Central and Channel 4 are on different frequencies therefore both tuners were in use, and you can only watch a third if it's on the same frequency as a channel that's already being recorded by one of the two tuners. You would only be able to view a third channel if it was on the same "multiplex" as either ITV1 Central or Channel 4. Alternatively, if the two channels you were recording were already on the same "multiplex" then that would only need one tuner and the second tuner would be free for you to view any third channel at all. [Edit] Just checked graham's spreadsheet. Yes, your three channels are all on different frequencies therefore you would need 3 tuners to be able to record two of them and watch one. But you only have 2! |

You can record Channel 5 and BBC ONE London at the same time and still watch any other channel on Freesat as Channel 5 and BBC ONE London are on the same transponder and are recorded by the one input, leaving the other one completely free.
