About 75% of the Goat content is bone and Gristle. Which is a shame because otherwise it is quite tasty.

I suppose this is what you get for buying a ready meal isn't it.

Is this generally available at Tesco or is it a local ethnic speciality given that the store was in Ladywood, Birmingham? I've noticed that Tesco tends to have a wider range of ethnic grub in general.

Doesn't sounds too appetising.

I know my local ASDA stocked, chicken parmo, a regional delicacy in ready meal form. It's probably something that the rest of the coutry don't see too much of.

I'm sure I read that Levi Roots had a curry goat ready meal out.

He does. When I googled for Tesco Curry goat I got this thread and a couple of links to Reggae Reggae Curry Goat.

Must admit, I feel a bit sick now. Perhaps it wasn't as tasty as I thought.

Shame, good goat curry tastes delish.

BTW I think it varies from tesco to tesco. Our local one used to stock ethnic goods but stopped and I now have to travel to the tesco extra on the other side of town which still stocks the ethnic stuff.

The only time I've ever had goat curry it was full of bones. That was from a caribbean restaurant as well.

It's very localised. My nearest big Tesco is in Brixton, and it has really good ethnic foods. I am sure however if you went to one in rural Hereford, for example, it would considerably less so.

I have not seen any goat meat on sale in any of our tescos or asdas

I would definitely try it if it was sold locally.

Talking to folk at work today most peoples view is that the bones and gristle and pretty much traditional. Not sure it's my cup of tea.

I shall give the rice and peas and the jerk chicken a go at some point though.

My granny would probably suck the life out of those things, use to drive me insane at family diners.

Anyone visiting the Goose Fair should try it.
I assume any decent Caribbean takeaway also sells it though it is mainly made using mutton.

I once asked why we don't eat more goat. I mean, the more people eat it, the more it will be bread, the cheaper it will be.

Apparently we don't have the terrain for it.

Why don't the Brits eat more goat?

I get goat from the halal butchers, they also do mutton which I prefer to lamb for curries and stews. I expect most large cities have asian supermarket type places these days.
I'm currently on the lookout for rabbit - any ideas around North Nottingham / East of Derby?

Apparently goat is eaten by more people than any other meat. I have yet to try it but really want to. I wonder if Tesco Hull have it. There is a nice Caribbean takeaway in Hull I wonder if they sell it. Is it a sweet curry ?

Oh FFS and some are not immigrants having been born here.
Some people will have been on holiday and want to try it gain at home.
This is the same attitude that Lasagne used to have "That foreign muck!" Now it is a staple of every ready meal brand there is.

I was curious the other day to know when the UK first started eating curries - It seems the first Curry House was in 1810 so I suppose that is as close an answer I will get unless someone on here has any other

Or the people Afro-Caribbean ancestry whose granparents (even great grandparants) setlled here many years ago.

Curried goat normally has bones.

Must try it with a goat steak sometime.

Very tasty.
