Favourite keyboard/piano solos
Yeah! Not as easy as the old guitar solo, is it? Hard to think of many, but they're out there!
For me, it's "The heat goes on" from Asia's Alpha "Uncertain smile" from The The's "Soul mining" Intro to "Tarot woman" by Rainbow from "Rising" "Fading lights" from Genesis's "We can't dance" "Supper's ready" from Genesis's "Seconds out" live album Outro to "Child of vision" from Supertramp from "Breakfast in America" Outro to "Sunset grill" by Don Henley from "Building the perfect beast" Intro to "Let it rock" by Bon Jovi from "Slippery when wet" Intro to Meat Loaf's "Bat out of Hell" and I'm sure plenty of others. Anyone else? |

Best key board solo ever: Simple Minds - Hunter & The Hunted - the Herbie Hancock solo that comes on during the last 3rd of the song, haunting, evocative, bliss. Its on the New Gold Dream album (1982).
A close second is Giorgio Moroders - Evolution, which, clocking in around 10 minutes, is like a sonic odyssey with lots of different keyboard motifs. also: On the 12" to Soft Cells 'Say Hello, Wave Goodbye', theres a beautiful synth intro (with sax too) that starts the song. Lindstroms - I Feel Space has a gr8 lead synth on it. Airs Moon Safari has some moogy noodles on it to! |

Does the beginning of Adele's Hometown Glory count?
If so, I think it's beautiful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln_D61tq_zk |

The two that spring to mind are 'I don't like mondays' by the Boomtown Rats and 'Gimme gimme gimme' by Abba. I could be wrong but think they both came out in the same year

Intro to Van Halen - Jump. Is that a keyboard (ok there's some drums in there as well)?
