Disgusted with Emmerdale -
I was watching Emmerdale and I am disgusted with the rape storyline, I found it deeply offensive to see such a thing at this time, especially as it was very poorly executed, badly acting and bad plotline, (almost like a pantomime) Compare that with Samatha Womack's brilliant's performance in EE and what I want to know is this is being slated and Emmerdale seems to be getting off Scott Free

There was nothing pantomime about it. Derek to be looked genuinely scary and Lisa genuinely terrified.

Not matter what happens in Emmerdale it could never drum up the publicity for a public outcry!
This shows when the casts seats are normally kept very warm at the Soap awards from all the sitting down! |

There are no poor actors in the oh-so slated EE are there? EE never have bad, panto plotlines, do they? Come on OP. |

I assume the OP is joking because the acting just then was top notch.

This shows when the casts seats are normally kept very warm at the Soap awards from all the sitting down! Shame. Grow up - I'll even take a ban for this. Sez and Davey - I haven't watched the episode yet. However having read your posts over the years I know I won't be dissapointed. I'm already feeling for Lisa ![]() Steph |

No-one has ever been raped in the fantastically acted EE have they?

Yes Compared to Emmerdale (where the cows have better acting skills) With the current storyline I feel its because its SO brilliantly performed, and executed, if it had been another character which has swapped the baby ie Kat, it would not make sense but with all of the hullabaloo its seems to have been missed and finally for Emmedale, when you consider how many awards Emmerdale has got (probably for looks rather than acting skills) then we can accept that the actors in Emmerdale are pretty pee poor |

You honestly think awards are a telling factor in acting ability. You genuinely believe that Scott maslen was voted best Actor for his divine acting skills rather than his good looks? And how many people do you actually think vote? |

I think that last sentence says it all really.

I don't watch Emmerdale, so I can't comment, really. The only thing I'd say is that rape is a fact of life and perfectly reasonable to be depicted on TV and drama, depending on how its done, of course.
That goes for cot death also, which is still a fact of life (though thankfully exceptionally rare) Discovering ones baby is dead and swapping it for a neighbours baby is unheard of and uses the baby's death as little more than a plot device for a literally outrageous storyline. Thats where the offence comes from. Theres something uniquely far-fetched and horrible about what Eastenders is doing. |

I do think people do forget Emmerdale did win the very first BAFTA for continuing drama against Eastenders, The Bill & Casualty - That is voted for by members of their Academy - not fans! It's sad that a small few leave down the Eastenders fans every time.

This is the final time I will ever say this on here. These awards need taken away from the public vote. Create an Academy like the Emmy's or Oscars. That would take away the popularity contest and be be unbiased. Let the public vote for Sexiest Male or female - That's it! The rest should be left to expert panels who view reels etc.

I was truly terrified for Lisa and had an awful feeling in my stomach
. Well done to both actors as Derek was really scary and poor Lisa as she tried to carry on for her family then broke down at the end. Does she tell anybody? |

No one forced you to watch it OP - if you're disgusted, its your problem.
I watch all three soaps, like all three soaps and it would be nice for once not to see a "MY SOAP IS BETTER THAN YOUR SOAP NA NA NA NA NAAAAAAAAAAAAA " post. Emmerdale was fantastic tonight. The scenes were understated but sublime. It was chilling to the very end. EE may win most of the awards but it doesnt mean they deserve them. The actors involved tonight were incredible and I applaud them. And as for ED being full of "piss poor" actors...... |

I thought it was played out very well. Derek was extremely menacing and my heart broke for Lisa.
Outstanding performances all round. |

I thought tonight's Emmerdale episodes were brilliant. The rape scenes were really chilling. Derek was creepy and scary and I genuinely felt scared and saddened for Lisa. Brilliantly subtle, great acting.
No idea why people feel the need to slate one soap just because another is being slated. |

We only get these types of threads when the 'good' stuff happens.
It actually put chills down my spine seeing it - even though we didn't see much. |

Emmerdale went down the subtle route, rather than the in your face and clout you round the head way that other soaps might do things!
Yes I am aware that Emmerdale is on earlier and therefore has to be more sensitive but it was AMAZING tonight! Jane Cox I think will come into her own with this storyline and we'll see Emmerdale getting more awards, as the storylines over the past 18 months have been fantastic. |

The storyline was more realistic than Baby swap. And the acting was great in Emmerdale tonight.
