Why would u use the mic as the FM antenna?

Why do HTC do this? Basically the end of the headphones has 3 lines, 1 for left, one for right, and one for the built in mic on the supplied headphones, FM antenna is in the mic, meaning if you use any other headphones without a mic you won't get reception. Why? No other manufacture do this, and to prove this, if you have a HTC phone, using any standard headphones without a mic, pull it out slightly to the first dimple, this is the one used by the mic, you will get excellent signal.

Every manufacturer uses the headphones as the aerial, but I see what you're saying, not the mic.

Maybe it's because the L and R audio is shielded?
