Missing Tuner
Strange one - I've had my box for a year and a half at least, with no problems, then a couple of days ago I noticed that scheduled recordings weren't starting unless I was actually watching the channel when the recording was due to start.
In addition, when switching channels I would briefly get the "No or Bad Signal" message (briefly = 1-2 seconds), and then the picture would appear. I went to Diagnostics, and saw that Tuner 1 was getting no signal at all. Tuner 2 was at normal good strength and quality. I assumed a loose connection in the wiring somewhere, although nothing has been disturbed as far as I know. However just in case, I did a factory reset just to see if it would make a difference. Now when I go through the set up wizard, it can't pick up any satellite signal at all. Am I still correct in thinking the most likely candidate is s dodgy cable connection somewhere, or does this point to a possible problem with the LNB or Humax box? Just thought I'd tap into the collective wisdom on here before I get the ladders out and start pulling the cabling apart... |

Quick update:
By changing Antenna settings to Two Cables (different), I can get Tuner 2 to pick up 167 channels. Tuner 1 stays stuck on about 10% quality / strength, and picks up nothing. Does Tuner 1 / 2 = cable 1/ 2, or is there something more hardware oriented going wrong here....? |

Tuner 1 is most likely getting no signal for some reason. If you switch the inputs and reset you will likely find that you don't get the two cables found message so the hdr will set itself up in single cable mode but otherwise appear to work properly until you try and record 2 at once.
Finding the reason is the trick, Some suggestions Water in the cable currently connected to tuner 1 Faulty lnb. Ungreased or not waterproofed connection at the lnb end allowing the connection to corrode. |
