Microchip Cat Flap

Does anyone have one of these, do they work o.k.? My cat's chip is in his shoulder so I was wondering how on earth it could read the chip from that sort of distance (I have a very large cat), its not like his chip is in his nose.....

These cat flaps are expensive so I don't want to make a mistake.

My neighbour has one and just had it fitted. All her cats can get through it. My guinness who always goes to her and always has cant get in. She did try to see if he could fit and he could and he is around 9kgs+. We have a lot of stray toms around us so i think they are a good idea.

Crikey and I thought my cat was bit at 6.4 kg!! OK, thanks for this, I think we will give it a go.

He hardly eats either and waits for my others to finish before he eats.

We have had two. One broke after a year but the other's been fine. Wouldn't be without one. I'm sure you could email or ring the seller about the shoulder issue.

I've got one and it's totally brilliant. I've already made back the money, on saved vets bills ... my cat was having fights every day with a ginger tom who kept coming in. She (mine) got the hang of it immediately, and within a couple of days she seemed to understand that other cats couldn't get in. It has really changed her life.

It does seem to depend on the cat, though, how well they take to it. My other cat is still afraid of the click it makes when it reads her chip, and just sits outside waiting for me to come and let her in.
