I can't remember the exact quote but it was around xmas and she said to Rita about the tram crash: 'If fate had taken a different path, we would be making the solemn pilgrimage... to your graveside...

I think she is hilarious! She has a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time!

When expressing delight that Gail had been found not guilty of killing Joe:

"I've never been so happy to lose a fiver!"

Mary rocks!

I adore Mary.
She's a perfect example to me of how a character can really grow on you over time, as I couldn't bear her at first, but now she's bedded in and found her niche within the show to come out with completely random things at inexplicable times, all the while with a perfectly deadpan expression on her face - it takes a special kind of character to get away with doing that.

I'm the same, I hated her character at first but now she's become a younger Blanche, blunt and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.
The producers should have built Deidre up to become her mother, (let's face it, we all become our mothers in time, but in my case I have given birth to my mother..long story..lol)

but Deidre is too stiff and whingy yet to be Blanche so Mary has stepped into Blanches shoes with a touch of comedy
