Ridiculous storyline: all new born babies look completely different, no 2 look the same so how on earth one can be replaced by another one is just ludicrous. Obviously written by someone who has never given birth.
BTW if someone had swapped my babies and put another one in their place I'd certainly have known about it!
Just stupid....

If a thread title doesn't appeal to me I dont click on it.
I dont read threads about HO or Doctors.
If the title clearly as this one does say's 'baby swap' dont click on it, dont reply and it'll soon drop down the forum.

It is a bad start to the year for Eastenders, the story is a PR disaster for the soap.

I actually posted this in another thread but it seems to have disappeared into the ether and I would also genuinely like to know why all the fuss as well.

I have read most of the threads on this baby swap storyline and was determined not to get involved but it is making me angy now.

My Mum has watched Eastenders since day one. She has stuck with the programme through good times and bad and she loves it. The thing that really annoys her is if anyone tells her something that is about to happen in any soap. She likes to find out for herself.

When i first heard about this storyline I worried about whether I should warn her or not as she lost a baby at 6 weeks old and it has stayed with her until this day.

In the end I had to tell her so that she could make an informed decision as to whether ot not to watch it.

She deicded she would watch and see how it went. Yesterday we had a long chat about the cot death and the swap and even now it was obvious how distressed she weas just talking about my baby sister but she has watched each episode and will continue to watch.

It was especially good for me because it gave me an opeing to find out properly what happened to my baby sister, I was just 2 years old at the time and sleeping in the same room as her but I remember nothing.

We talked for ages and she cannot understand what all the fuss is about. She thinks the storyline has been dealt with really well and the acting superb. I also asked what it would have been like for her if she found out her baby hadn't died but had been swapped like kat & Alfie's.

She said she would be over the moon because it would mean that despite all the hell she went through and the grieving she did would be forgotten if she could just have her baby back.

We know this is going to happen sooner or later so why can't we just watch the show for what it is, a soap and if we don't like it, turn it off.

There are loads of programmes on TV I don't like, but I don't fire a complaint off to the BBC I do something really radical... I turn it off and go and do something else instead.

The same with these threads. Why do people complain that there are so many of them and then take the time to read them and even post on them.

So Mum and I are enjoying (I do hesitate to use that word but can't think of another) the storyline and find it gripping. It also provided us with an opportunity to talk about things that otherwise we wouldn't have. I now know a lot more about what happened to my sister and glad that I shared the memory with my Mum.
