Don't fully understand the question. But I would commend anyone to cancel Sky and save throwing away at least £20 a month. Sky boxes also use an awful lot of electricity even in standby, so another saving.

Money.

Obviously you have less channel choice.

Channels are listed here: http://www.freesat.co.uk/what-you-get/our-channels/

There's also free HD with the right type of box but only BBC One HD, BBC HD and ITV HD at the moment.

Well if you are not interested in the PAY channels there is very little point in keeping a SKY+ as a PVR, the minimum cost to maintain the PVR functions is £120 a year, closer to £240 if you take 1 MIX with PVR inclusive. An initial pain in the wallet for a Freesat PVR would soon be recouped and you can throw in the HD option and the streaming options that are becoming common place on the Freesat licensed hardware.

It's a straight swap from a twin tuner SKY+ to a twin tuner Freesat box so no issues with the dish and feeds so unless there is a FTV channel that you can not live without and it's not on Freeview I think it would have to be an uber retention deal from SKY to make the decision based on economics irrelevant and it all comes down to money

Most people say that saving money is the best reason for leaving Sky. I agree that, over time, you can save a lot of money by junking Sky.
But for others, me included, the very thought of my money going to support a Murdoch company is awful.
So, that's another reason.

Just bought a Humax Feesat HDR box, and fitted it at the weekend, well pleased with it

I've had enough of $ky and will cancel my subscription asap even though when I phoned up before, they offered me half-price for 6 months...even at that price it was £25 odd pm.
So as I've taken voluntary redundancy / retirement, I have to save money anyway

Saving money is one thing, but also my Foxsat box is much more stable than my Sky+ box ever was. I think it's been rebooted once in 18 months.

Too right mate, the number of times I've had to switch the Sky box off at the wall...

Good luck with divorcing yourself from Sky. Even with my subscription cancelled, they bombarded me with post and phone calls with offers to come back. After many attempts and getting very angry with them, I did finally get someone to delete my details from their records, so stress you want no further contact from them.

Remember there are TV stations available on Freesat in "non-freesat" mode, you will find them via your menu. At least if you have a Humax box like me!!

To get the full range you really need a Freesat box in addition to a Freeview TV/box, so you can watch Top Gear 2007 on Dave for the 34th time.

Better than giving your hard-earned dosh to Uncle Rupert though!!

That is kinda true in a way. Should really be renamed "Top Gear TV" or "The Top Gear Channel"
