Humax FOXSAT-HDR Freesat+ - Switching Itself Off
Brianphilipson

Hi,

As the subject suggests, the box keeps switching itself off while we're watching it but mainly during the same circumstances.

We have the box connected in the lounge via HDMI to the TV and also connected via Scart to a Philips wireless transmitter. At night we power off the lounge TV and watch the box upstairs via the wireless transmitter and this is when the issue occurs. Some nights it's fine, others it can switch itself off up to 5 times an hour. It hasn't crashed as it can be switched back on again with no problems and if watching recorded media it can be restarted from where it was when it switched off.

Has anyone had experience of this?

I'm wondering if the box 'cleverly' detects that the HDMI connected TV is off and so 'helpfully' powers itself off.

Many thanks.

Brian.

Don't think this can be the cause. A couple of times a week I use the HDR for radio. I have an optical connection to my AV amp from the HDR and turn the TV off! I assure you the air would be blue if I missed a goal because the HDR switched off at a critical moment. Hasn't happened yet!

I would think it's a problem with the video sender generating a sby command to the hdr. Read of a similar incident before, changing the hdr remote to a different channel fixed it.

From the Hummy.org.uk site, that is now suspended:

Multi Code function HDR remote
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Revealed exclusively to Hummy.org members.
If you are using more than one receiver in the same location you can change the remote control frequency so that the remote control commands do not conflict.
(This is only relevant to the Foxsat HD, HDR, and HDCI 5000, and HD/HDR T2 freeview products.)

1. Switch on your TV set and the Humax product that you wish to change the remote code.
2. Make sure that the other Humax product that you do not wish to control is in Standby or powered OFF at the mains.
3. Point the remote control towards the remote control sensor of the target receiver.
4. Press and hold the 0 and OK buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds until the PVR button on the remote stays red.
5. A message will appear on the TV screen:

"You can change the remote control mode.
Press a Numeric Key (<1> ~ <6>) to select the mode
Current mode: Mode 1."

6. Press a NUMERIC button (from 1 to 6) to select a different mode.
7. A message confirming the change of Mode will appear on screen.

Have you disabled 'Automatic Standby'?

Thanks for this. The video sender, as far as I'm aware only routes the signal from one unit to the other. I'm not using the remote control when it happens so I wouldn't expect any commands to be sent, therefore I don't see how changing the remote channel would help.

The unit is a Philips VL 1200.

The previous ocurrence was similar. Open the flap and cover the hdr IR receiver and see if the problem recurs.

OK, I've given it a go, fingers crossed.

Thanks for the help.

Brian.
