what to have with kippers?

i sometimes get this overwheming taste for kippers and have to have them. the only thing i ever eat them with though is bread and butter. i would like to have them with something more satisfying and filling, any ideas? thanks

I'm the same. Always have brown bread with them. I've never thought of having anything with them until I saw your post. Maybe a poached egg? That goes well with smoked haddock.

I like them with tomatoes; either fried fresh tomatoes or warmed through canned tomatoes. Then, of course you need some nice bread to mop up the kippery-tomato juices.

Kippers flaked into rice goes well with a little stock,saffron and hard boiled eggs.

Kedgeree is made using smoked haddock but I suppose you could use kippers. Could it be too overpowering?

Many moons ago, in another life, when I got home from work, the fridge was bare apart from kippers. In the cupboard we had some tinned soup so I elected to have kippers followed by onion soup. The result was OH had to sleep in another room that night! Unfortunately, I couldn't get away from the smell.

P.S. We now refer to it as 'The Great Kipper Fart of 1985'
