I have watched all the tawdry, plastic , sham with disdain, until Johnson Beharry VC came on the screen, what a man!
A war hero, no less!
You will hopefully do well, Johnson and your bravery on the ice as in battle will shine through

Agree with you 100% op.
Such a gent, and such a brave young man. Wish him all the luck in the world, skating or not.

Although I've been scathing at the non-celebs they've had on this year, I do think he is the exception. I think it's a piece of genius casting by the casting people, and I am really interested to see how he fares. Hopefully much better than those who think they should be celebrated for shagging a footballer then talking about it.

Hope many more support the guy he is terrific and a true war hero!

Probably won't win but, he has my support. In this age of "plastic" celebs this guy is a true hero who deserves all the praise and respect that has been lauded on him. Rather have him on my side than the likes of Kerry Katona.

Exactly not some publicity seeking, fame hungry, 'media whore'.

I hate to disagree - Johnson Beharry is an inspirational and heroic individual, but this is Dancing on Ice - a frothy celebrity reality show, quite what a serving soldier is doing on it I am not quite sure.

Bringing some reality to 'reality television' ?

Agree, is there someone new producing the show? The changes seem to work really well.

I guess it all personal opinion - I just think it is a bit "off" and I honestly don't get why he is doing it (or why the army is supporting it) - it seems a bit shallow / cheap.

The little ones I watch the show with look up to people on shows like this. Johnson is a role model in a way not many of the others can claim.

This brave man deserves to go through, he could'nt even stand on the ice, but it never stopped him, he just got on with it and did it, just like he did in Iraq and his bravery shone through.

I agree.

Would the Army agree to this for any other serving personnel? I doubt it.

I don't understand why he's on the show, and I don't agree with it at all.

It is horrendously shallow. Getting the Victoria Cross should have nothing to do with a 'celeb'-filled skating show. Most other people who receive the VC barely want anybody to know about it - it's just their job.

For some reason this guy has turned up on Dancing on Ice, with ITV even going as far as referring to him as 'Beharry VC'. Why on Earth is he doing it.

Great to hear that's what little people need others to look up to

I think it's a little bi patronising to say he should go through simply because he is a "brave man". Im sure he doesn't want special treatment, and several of them struggled to stand on the ice at first.

It's called Dancing on Ice.

Not 'which brave man should we put on the ice'. Who next? Stephen Hawking?

If he can dance on it then fine. If not, he can leave.

i think you will find that most people who have the vc wouldnt be able to say anything as nearly all the time it is awarded posthumously, he is the only living recipient!

An inspirational character - that is indisputable. But I didn't rate his skating I'm afraid.

The guy is trying his very best after all he's came through, at least give hima chance and if he cannot skate well, then you alone have the control in your hands to vote him off , if you so wish and I did not say he should go through simply because he is a brave man, I am aware it is a skating show, Vodka.

I was moved by his VT and his performance. Same goes for Kerry.

Two people famous for very different things, but with the ever evolving definition of the word 'celebrity' there's no reason why either shouldn't be on the show.

Not so. He's the only recipient who's still serving in the Forces - a bit different.

I will give him a chance, but if he is rubbish then he needs to go, war hero or not.
