Tbh they are fairly known. Both of them.

I don't necessarily vote for people I've heard of, so what difference does it make? I have heard of Vanilla Ice, but voted for his skating.

I think as the weeks go on being well known or having a pre existing fan base becomes less important but it's important in the 1st couple of shows. After a while the public get to know people and then people can develop fan bases based on their appearance on the show.
