Switched off

This is a twist too far for me and I can't watch the skate-off. What a stupid idea - potentially to lose the best skater before the competition even starts! What sort of idiot could believe that such a 'twist' would grab viewers for the series?

your loss. its abit pathetic to switch off because the person you like ended up in the bottom two. i like her and im still watching.

I think Laura may actually stay - as she is the best skater.

Shame no one knows who she is

This. The only real good skaters so far are Laura and Vanilla Ice. I really really hope Laura is safe.

I don't like or dislike Laura but she topped the leaderboard. Normally in this case the best skater would stay on judges' vote. However in this case there is a real possibility that the best skater should leave because she is less popular/well known than the others. For me the show needs a balance of strong and weak skaters. If the producers are willing to allow the public to vote out the strongest skaters before the competition starts then, as far as I am concerned there will be very little to watch in the forthcoming weeks.

Are all the judges coming back for the third show?

Thank you!

Maybe I will still be around by week three then. I hope they drop this 'twist' for next year!

Perhaps the public should have voted on getting rid of weak skaters in this way the strong hopefully stay.

Perhaps we should have instead had a public vote to decide which judges should stay - vote back Nicky and Karen and vote off Emma.

That would be fun - if they dropped Emma they could afford to employ more well known professionals. She is probably being paid even more than Katona.

Even more horifically it wouldn't surprise me if she was paid more than Robin even though he is head judge.

TBH I think the root of the problem is simply having 16 celebs in the first place. Having said that the skate off was genuinely exciting tonight as you didn't know for sure who was going to progress. In previous years Laura may well just have been up against Nadia/Angela which would have been a foregone conclusion a la Gary & Bobby last year.

That's terrible. Jason now has much more of a say, and he's far too harsh. Emma was quite a good dancer on Strictly, but nothing special, and she's not an expert in any way. I'd love to see them skating around the ice.

Celebs is stretching the definition of the word - there are at most 8 celebrities that more than 20% of the population might recognise.

What? Did Emma Bunton want a pay rise?

I have nothing against her but I know without a doubt if the communists were in charge she wouldn't be anywhere near the studios never mind the judges' chair.

I'm not Jason's biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination but in all fairness, he seems to have toned it down a little and was at least giving some constructive criticisms to the celebs. Fair enough it's only 1 week but if he continues with his new toned down critiques which don't get personal and bitchy etc then he will be a lot better than last year.
