He goes on about the small details and the performance, and marks people down for things like 'your arms weren't stretched or held right...your head needs to be higher' etc

Yet, Vanilla Ice had the most shocking posture I've seen on DOI. The beginning dancing was great, but when he skated round the rink his posture should have been correct.

Surprisingly, cos she's useless and talks nonsense, Emma picked up on this!

Yeah, he's only a professional choreographer, he knows nothing.

He has probably never been on ice before. Dancing on ice is very different from normal dancing. He knows practically nothing about dancing on ice.

I'm sure in the 6 years of juging and being in the company of professional ice dancers on this show he has learnt alot about ice dancing. This coupled with his dancing qualifications makes him a worthy judge.

I would have been more inclined to agree when there were more judges. He shouldn't make up 1/3 of the panel, and Emma really doesn't deserve to be there now.

the reason I said that is because you posted as if it was a statement of fact - instead of just your opinion which I'm sure a lot of people disagree with

Jason is a dancer and that is why is on the panel and he actually knows a considerable amount - sometimes he can be harsh but most often he is right

Robin Cousins is on there as the ice skater

I love Jason and the criticisms he gives are all helpful for the following weeks, unlike Emma who seems like a nice woman but I can't for the life of me fathom out why a singer is seen fit to be a judge.

They would be helpful if he didn't wrap them up in a load of nasty bitchy bulls***.

I can't stand him, and I think the 3 judges this year is a crap idea. I wish that he'd quit like he promised and they'd kept Nicky.

I think when he is being constructive he adds a lot to the panel, it's when he lets his mouth run away with itself that he ceases to be an asset. Karen's new role sitting alongside the contestants enables her to curb his worst excesses without it causing a judges' spat and for that reason I like the fact that she is no longer on the panel.

It's because he's incompetent to judge anything more significant.

He's kept on the panel because he's obnoxious and cerates "controversy".

Not when they're about minor details, which they often are -- the last thing the celebs need is to be working on minor details when they have greater problems -- or when he's just obnoxiously opinionated, as he often is.

Yes. Everything he says sounds as if he's trying to make it sound technical but it's not.

There was a big point made to Angela last night that this is NOT dancing and it's different, so his basis for being there because of his alleged choreography expertise looks pretty thin too.

THANK YOU to the above couple of posters.

How can people say he's there to judge the performace and he's a qualified dancer, yet he didn't comment on on the most obvious problem of Vanilla Ice (or Robs) appaling posture. He skated and danced like a hunchback.

Jason's nearly always spot on. He doesn't sugarcoat his criticisms that's all. Emma tries to be nice about it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I respect Jason's opinion as a choreographer. He is as qualified a judge of performance/dance as Robin is as a skater.

Karen Hardy is the one who is blinkered, not Jason.

Jason normally does make valid criticisms, although he rarely presents them constructively.

I think he is prone to being dazzled by a good performance to the extent he will let go issues of technique like posture, which I believe is what happened with his comments to Rob.

for me he was the only judge that talked sence. being a dancer myself I agreed a lot with what he said more than the others
