In the age of adult and childhood obesity, when we're all being told to cut down, what is your favourite fast or junk food to settle down to in the evening after a hard day at work when you just cannot be arsed to do any cookering?

Are you all a fan of the Chinese? Never really got on with Indian food myself.

Give me a ludicrously overpriced pizza any day of the week. Pepperoni or nothing!

On those nights I can't be bothered to cook or have a fast food craving, I love ordering a couple of large pizzas (usually on offer) and a portion of fries or some other side dish. Then when it's delivered I'll eat the fries that night, and put the pizzas in the freezer wrapped in foil in portions of 2-3 slices. Then whenever I fancy a pizza for the next couple of months, I just take it out and bung it in the microwave! Sorted

I don't consider Indian, Chinese or Pizza to be 'junk food', more 'convenience food' if we're talking picking up a takeaway or getting it delivered. I'd consider junk food to be Mcdonalds, Burger King, KFC and the like. *puts down rulebook*

OK, my fav takeway/delivery foods to have on an evening are without doubt Indian and Pizza. I eat far too much of both, truth be told Never been crazy about Chinese, although I do have it from time to time if the wife wants it.

I often thought of doing that with the large pizzas. I always wondered if they'd reheat well from cooked to frozen to cooked again. Dominos do a tuesday double deal thing so I'd probably do that. Or maybe some work better than others. I'd be wary with chicken...

Occasionally & it is only occasionally now we have either a Chinese or Indian. I like the Shredded chilli beef from the Chinese or from the Indian I have a Lamb tikka shareen.

I am a curry addict. I get takeouts as well as making my own. A total curry junkie.

I am also getting more and more partial to Chinese as I have found a restaurant that delivers. I normally found take outs a bit crap but this is restaurant food to your door.

My other fave is Japanese although no takouts open as yet so it means a trip to the restaurant in Sheffield and it is costly.

If I don't cook I'll normally order from a local kebab house. They do amazing chicken shish and their falafel / humous is to die for.

Am not really a fan of the classic 'takeaway' (Not keen on Indian or Chinese, cannot recall the last time I had fish & chip and If I fancy pizza I normally buy a Pizza Exoress one or better still go to the local Italian)

I am not a snob, I have the occasional Maccy D's or KFC, I just do not like most takeaways

I don't eat meat so wouldn't know if it works OK with chicken. To be fair you do have to be careful not to overcook it, there's a fine line between making sure the pizza is reheated hot all the way through, and making it so you can't chew through the crust! Usually takes a blast of 2 minutes on medium then a minute rest then another blast of 2 minutes on high, there you go that's my 'recipe'

Love curries more than Chinese but i'll always cook my own version rather than order one from a takeaway. If I want pizza I usually make my own too so I guess I do eat the junk but just home
made junk.

I re-heat my pizza's in the oven or grill. They come out almost like they have just been cooked!

Egg mayonnaise and tomato barm cakes with salt and vinegar crisps and a diet coke . Dead common and a lot of trumping fun.

Is it fair to say that Indian and Chinese meals are junk food? My local Indian is a respectable sit down restaurant with a take away option. There is no way that it can be called a junk food restaurant.

To me Chinese / Indian / Pizza Hut are take-aways whereas Macdonalds, Burger King, KFC are fast food.

On the whole it is all pretty much junk food though (your local Indian is lovely I am sure - as is the kebab shop that I get my takeaways from) but I doubt the food is anywhere near as nutritional or healthy as home cooked food is

I see your point, but does it apply to western cuisine restaurants too or is it because of the fact that Indian restaurants tend to use trans fats in cooking preparation? How does a home cooked jalfrezi differ from a restaurant cooked one? Genuinely intrigued.

I make my own curries too, and pizza's sometimes, it's so easy, at least you know what's gone into them. We have a really good fish and chip shop nearby, who do really great fish and chips, that's our treat.

Are we counting the obligatory post pub cuisine that is the elephant leg? Many are purchased. few are eaten. Most go missing on the long stagger home.
