BBC calls the shots, not showtime.
If BBC want to cancel it there's nothing showtime can do.

Showtime were even pushing for a longer season of 15 episodes but bbc refused

Don't know about Showtime wanting more episodes, but the first part of your post can't be right. It was Showtime's decision that season two would go ahead (I know because I remember the day the renewal was announced, and it was Showtime that said they made the decision), not the BBC, so Showtime must be the channel that is effectively calling the shots, and is probably paying for most of the show. And I find it hard to believe that Showtime wanted 15 episodes. Nothing else they air gets such a long season order and the show is modestly rated on Showtime, far from a big hit.

I'm really enjoying this series. I loved the ice rink scene at the end of the last ep.

Another vote for this series. It's really strong. I'm glad they brought it back now. I agree it should be longer for each ep.

we've just caught up with this show so far and are loving it. The most recent one wasn't quite so Laugh out loud funny, but still very good. all the leads are excellent

Really enjoyed this week's episode - I'm glad we saw Matt more. The storylines are getting more prominant now. I loved Matt's smiling face at the guy on the rink which then turned into a scowl

That was my favourite episode of the series so far. I haven't really been into this series as much as the last one, but the latest episode made me realise why I love the show; the relationship between Matt, Beverly and Sean is so complex and layered and it was great to see that dynamic being focused on again.

I didn't think this weeks was a patch on last weeks.
It was slow and a bit of a let down.

I read or saw an interview that said just that. It may have even been Stephen Mangan himself on either The One Show, Saturday Kitchen or Norton.

It was that Showtime wanted 15 and the BBC wanted 6 so they comprimised on 9.

thats true..and it is definitly BBC that run things....
I read an article about it..I'll try find it.

Showtime apparently wanted more episodes because of Matt Le Blanc's Big win... Its also going to be paired with Weeds this year

Excellent episode tonight! Best episode out of the series so far.

Loved the opening scene with Carol comforting Merc on the toilet where he poops! Hilarious! Loved the Andrew scene in the bar with Matt, Sean and Beverly. Love the dynamic these three have together. Lovely touch at the end showing Bev and Sean skating. Especially loved Matt in tonight's show, quality quality episode. There was so much other good stuff tonight but that's what springs to mind the most. As you can tell, i loved it! Lol.

Great line by Merc in the restaurant asking Matt do you want to be an actor starring in a show on the air or the star of the show that got cancelled. It's a cut-throat business this acting malarkey!

YCOMT - brilliant! Now to find a woman!

I'd never even noticed this show in the first series. It was only when I saw Matt LeBlanc doing the usual promotional interviews recently I decided to give the show a go. I really liked it, so watched the whole first series and found it literally laugh out loud funny. I love the relationships between the characters, hope it does get a third series.

I started to think it was wearing thin until this week's episode. Just a shame things started to heat up towards the end leading into another week's wait.

I thought what looked like a bit of a revival took a bit of a backwards step this week, still can't see there being another series.

maybe wait and see how the ratings are for showtime??

Its got a better lead in this year (Weeds)... I think we'll get a 3rd series (if the writers actually have plans for a 3rd series)

This is our favourite 30 minutes of the week at the moment. Trying to shoot scenes of Morning while hiding her misplaced cheek implant was a scream.
