As expected last night. I dont know why people thought Waterloo Road would suddenly get a huge boost after winning a NTA. Its in its 7th series, if people had any interest they would have given it a go already.

Midsomer's rating is no surprise to me, although it may surprise Fudd.
I agree
If you don't watch something then i don't think seeing clips and watching them win an award at the NTAS is actually going to make someone watch.

I usually watch Waterloo road but looking at the trailers it looked boring so switched off after EastEnders and will save it for a rainy day

Good rating for EastEnders given it's a wednesday and the BBC didn't promote it
I guess the general idea wasn't to have EastEnders air at 7:30pm to boost the return of waterloo road.

BBC 3 Repeat also did well

I think it's about time the BBC aired EastEnders on a Wednesday at 7:30pm (that would sure Mess up ITV abit)

Midsommer rated very well also which im not surpised at given the press/adverts around that episode

BTW, with My Big Fat Gypsy Weddings rising, have we got a list of C4's top rating programmes - either since it launched or if it would be more relevant, of the last 10 years or so. I'm guessing once they've seen off Jady Goody's eviction it'll be The Ashes victory (though that was a peak figure) in 2005 and then the 2002 BB final to beat.
Most watched Channel 4 programmes of the 00's:

1. Big Brother: Live Final 2002 10.01m
2. Friends: The Last One, Part Two 2004 9.64m
3. Celebrity Big Brother 2007 8.81m
4. Wife Swap 2003 6.90m
5. Lost 2005 6.75m
6. Bridget Jones's Diary 2004 6.54m
7. Celebrity Wife Swap 2003 6.43m
8. Peter Kay: Britain's Got The Pop Factor 2008 6.26m
9. Jamie's Kitchen 2002 6.25m
10. Supernanny 2001 6.01m

What did Doctors get yesterday as i just wanted to see if Tuesdays outstanding (and the best soap ep of the year so far) gave the show a boost or not

Home and away still not rating that good despite the show picking up over the last week or so
which hopefully is coming out of the bad patch it was in Mid 2009 and most of 2010

Neighbours im not surpised the ratings are not as good as they can be the show is just getting worse

Surprised Denise is lowering herself to this - though she was back on stage now. I suspect though if it last that long Denise is just the name to get the show up and running, and sooner rather than later will move on.

Ratings though will surely be no better than Studio Five - you don't replace a show with as poor a reputation as that with one with the OK! brand!

Denise, lowering herself? did you not watch Something for The Weekend, Babes in the Wood, Who Dares Sing, Prickly Heat, et cetera.

TBH, after the way all her shows have gone that she's presented since her first stint on Big Breakfast, I'm surprised 5 have lowered themselves to her

Home and Away is very hit and miss at the moment. It's picking up in some respects, but yesterday's episode with Marilyn's "death date" arriving was badly written contrived rubbish. Neighbours from what I've seen has been more consistent.

Anyway, both soaps should experience a ratings lift over the next few days with some major episodes due to air:

Friday 2:15pm / 6:00pm Home and Away 2010 Season Finale
Monday 1:45pm / 5:30pm Neighbours 2010 Season Finale
Monday 2:15pm / 6:00pm Home and Away 2011 Season Premiere
Tuesday 1:45pm / 5:30pm Neighbours 2011 Season Premiere

yeah it was Terrible
it's such a shame because Marilyn was once an Home and away Icon she was Brilliant and Funny
Now he's annoying and Boring.

Quite a Flew Trailers for Home and away being shown at the moment and i know there's the Neighbours Fire tommorow
I just wish both shows would pull their socks up and get back to their best
But i feel thats a long shot as i've been waiting for that to happen to Neighbours since mid 2007

2008/2009 (the start of) was once of Home and aways best imo

Another really good night for CNN on Wednesday with two programmes over a million viewers (Piers Morgan and Anderson Cooper). Following the attack on Cooper earlier in the day, he came number 1 in the demo at 10 and 11pm ET - beating Fox News.

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/...606#more-51606

CNN beat MNSBC every hour between 5pm and 12am in the demo and in total viewers every hour bar the 7 and 8pm offerings.

I think Marchlands will have rated well tonight winning its slot.

I enjoyed it, good story and outstanding cast.

7pm:
FNC - The FOX Report with Shepard Smith - 2,119,000
MSNBC - Hardball With Chris Matthews - 733,000
CNN - John King USA - 664,000

8pm:
FNC - The O'Reilly Factor - 2,935,000
MSNBC - Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell - 999,000
CNN - Parker Spitzer - 713,000

9pm:
FNC - Hannity - 2,361,000
CNN - Piers Morgan Tonight - 1,247,000
MSNBC - Rachel Maddow Show - 1,090,000

10pm:
FNC - On The Record With Greta Van Susteren - 1,683,000
CNN - Anderson Cooper 360 - 1,301,000
MSNBC - Ed Show - 983,000

Unsurprisingly, Anderson Cooper got a big boost from news of his attack in Egypt. He beat Greta in A25-54 (one wonders how long until she gets the boot - definitely the weak link at FOX and has been for a while now).

While Parker Spitzer & John King USA finished 3rd in their timeslots, they did win with adults 25-54.

Piers had his best numbers since his second night.

Has there been any significant change for the UK news channels amid the Egypt crisis?

Tvbythenumbers

EDIT: Beaten to it!

DS TV Show Discussions:
Kidnap and Ransom (Entire Series) - 63 posts & 4,531 views
Marchlands (First Episode) - 115 posts & 7,619 views

I think that speaks volumes. My initial 5.2m DSRPG prediction for Marchlands looks to be seriously out.

ITV1 drama is enjoying a strong start to 2011, that's for sure.

BBC NC controller Kevin Bakhurst tweeted this yesterday referring to the ratings for Tuesday I presume,
UK audience following egypt coverage closely - v good figures for #bbcnews website and #bbcnews channel (share yday 1.13%; Sky News 0.64%)
I suspect both channels would have seen a further increase yesterday with the events in Tahrir Square.

The Egypt crisis and the hurricane in Queensland must be boosting news coverage.

I think ITN and Ten News share coverage as there was a report on Daybreak by a reporter from Ten News. I wonder if Seven and Nine share coverage and resources with The BBC or Sky?

The summer must be having an impact because those ratings are terrible with the exception of TBL! Ten News continues to struggle at 6pm and 6.30 with Neighbours only 40,000 less

I've added the breakfast ratings which were huge as expected for yesterday. Incredible figures!

Sunrise is doing exceptional, Nine isn't doing too badly either. That's the equivalent of 2-3m in UK ratings for Sunrise and 1.5-2m for Today.

It's not appalling for MTV. That's probably above the slot average, believe it or not.

Anyway, there's plenty of opportunities for people to catch up. A quick search on DigiGuide revealed some rather overzealous scheduling by MTV...

Tues 22.00 (First Showing)
Wed 04.00 (Repeat #1)
Wed 23.00 (Repeat #2)
Fri 21.00 (Repeat #3)
Sun 21.00 (Repeat #4)
Mon 21.00 (Repeat #5)

Indeed. In the same slot last week, MTV averaged only 5000!

Looking at the skews for Midsomer and Waterloo Road, I think ITV would prefer to have WR even though MM was over 2m higher in total ratings. 50% 65+ is not going to bring in high ad rates for Midsomer and ITV.

Traffic Cops skews exceedingly young as well, even younger than Eastenders.

Jeepers! Big drop, hopefully it picks up as the weeks go on as more people find it. Thanks for the info
