I wonder how long the meeting to decide on the main ITV cup tie actually lasts. Does someone just say "Man Utd" and then they all go down the pub?
what makes you think they are not already in the pub?

Easily 5m+ for Match of the Day. All of the games appear to be thrillers.
That assumes casual viewers are aware of the goal-fest.

But yes, it really should filter through to a good audience; perhaps not 5m in the overnights though.

I'm sure Gary will be promoting it during the programme junctions tonight.

Maybe it's so bad, it's good, a la Waking the Dead.
Waking the Dead is bad?

I think it's class, and am sorry it's ending.

I think it has hit 5m, or the very high 4m's in the overnights already this season; I'd be surprised given one or two of the results if that didn't happen tonight.

The most recent MOTD had 4.5m (27%) so yeah, they should be looking at 5m+ tonight.

I think it's pretty obvious that Sky is going to attempt to get the 6 Nations.
I think they'd rather just have the England games. They dropped it like a hot potato when the England's Twickenham and Paris Six Nations games returned to the main contract.

By "bad", I mean the fact it doesn't have even a tenuous grip on reality, which I'm assuming is the newspaper hack's main gripe with Outcasts.

But, yes, Waking the Dead works really well when you accept it doesn't try to be remotely realistic.

The question is, will people accept Outcasts in the same way, or will they reject it, like they did with Bonekickers?

Thats a good point! (it would appear that the business side of things is over very quickly)

ITV being run form the corner table of a pub somewhere would explain alot.

Alot of there ideas would seem like good ones, if they were suggested when drunk.

True, I never really took to Julie Graham. . .

Not too keen on Hermoine either though

17:30- Neighbours: 1.40m (7.9%)
Decent rating for the fire episode compared to recent weeks. Hopefully Monday onwards should see more of a permanent boost as ratings since Christmas have been significantly down on Nov/Dec of 2010.

Overnight Monthly
Oct 2010: 1.32m
Nov 2010: 1.47m
Dec 2010: 1.43m (inc snow week)
Jan 2011: 1.28m

The policy was that +1 ratings would only be mentioned if the airing surpassed the 200k mark. Now, it seems there's a bit of inconsistency.

We've only just started getting ITV1 +1 ratings anyway (we didn't get them straight away) and nothing is above 150k.

The only reason we wouldn't mention them is space and, as we write in a narrative form, it would over-complicate things wouldn't you agree?

We obviously merge SD and HD but merging +1 would probably cause uproar. Hopefully we'll stick to the above 200k thing for +1, because I think anything lower than that isn't really relevant.

Cheers,
PJ
I would like to register my uproar in advance.

if it has gone wrong, it will be interesting to see where, its had a bit of money spent on it.

One thing I note from the trailer is now much the colony has been built already, im sure that will be explained, but a new planet shold look less like the bar from Star Trek First Contact.

Are those averages the tape-checked ones or full-slot averages? Tape-checked averages tend to be about 0.1m higher than the full slots.

Those are the tape checked ones from DS. Full slot ratings only seem to appear about half the time so I've stuck with tape checked for Neighbours. That 1.40m (7.9%) rating for yesterday is tape checked so it is fair comparison.

Channel 4 top programs of 2011 so far:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- C4 -------------- C4 +1 ----------- C4 Official
01: Big Fat Gypsy Weddings 01/02/11 --------- 6.5m (23.8%) ------- 1.04m ------------------------
02: Embarrassing Bodies 04/02/11 -------------- 3.6m (14.9%) -------- 587k -------------------------
03: Shameless 10/01/11 ------------------------------ 3.1m (15.8%) -------- 355k --------------- 4.05m
04: FILM: premiere: Iron Man 2/01/11 --------- 3.0m (12.1%) -------- 561k --------------- 3.39m
05: Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2010 3/01/11 ---- 2.7m (12.9%) -------- 400k -------------- 3.34m
06: Mary Portas: Secret Shopper 19/01/11 -- 2.7m (11.1%) -------- 349k --------------- 3.36m
07: Million Pound Drop 04/02/11 ----------------- 2.6m (14.2%) -----------------------------------------
08: Britain's Fattest Man 5/01/11 ----------------- 2.6m (11.3%) -------- 334k --------------- 3.01m
09: One Born Every Minute 10/01/11 ----------- 2.6m (9.7%) ---------- 302k -------------- 3.19m

Last year's chart for comparison (there were no new entries after that post).

C4 and C4 +1 are overnight ratings, C4 official are from the Barb website.
All overnight ratings are averages for the full slot running time, rounded to 1 decimal place.
Shows are ranked in order of overnight ratings.
Each show only gets one mention in the list.
Come Dine With Me would chart in 2011 ~ 2.6m but don't have exact rating

Brilliant night for Channel 4 last night. I think that is the highest ever overnight Channel 4 rating for Embarrassing Bodies (certainly since 2008 anyway). Not sure how it is managing to bag such high figures on a Friday night, possibly down to the abysmal ratings on ITV1 I suppose. Also Million Pound Drop recorded its highest ever overnight rating last night

Another series high I can see for Million Pound Drop tonight.

Also, tape-checked rating will be 20:50 to 22:15.

Gary Lineker before the news "Match Of The Day tonight is, in my humble opinion, the best in history". (BBC1, 10.30pm).

I wouldn't be surprised if tonight's MOTD rating does generate one or two 's. Can see it being higher than expected.

It's got little in way of opposition.

So far Match of the Day has shown the build up to goals/goals and little else! Guess they haven't got much time considering...
