Pretty surprised that only 4.8m were watching Outcasts in the first 15 mins. I was expecting it to be over 6m at the start and shedding viewers throughout. When I heard it had got 4.5m I thought that it may have lost a couple of million during the episode so 600,000 isn't too bad. At least it was stable for the second half of the episode.

Seems like Channel 4 and Five benefited most (and will probably benefit further in coming weeks) from the Outcasts rating. Bet BBC are hoping that it doesn't drop below 4m tonight, but I can see just that happening.

So Gypsy has a shot at a 7m+ overnight then tonight? Probably the best chance it's going to have with BBC One set to be approximately 2.5m viewers short on last week and the Brits coming up next week.

Thanks for the ratings and the Outcasts breakdown. What a difference a week makes for the BBC.
So Outcasts began with only 4.8m. That will be a disappointment but it means the drop off was less severe than all the online comments suggested. I wonder if the BBC will continue to schedule across Monday and Tuesday after next week? The sci fi tag was it's downfall - sci fi addicts hated it because it wasn't really sci fi (and wasn't intended to be) and non sci fi people thought it wasn't for them. I've posted elsewhere but I'm really surprised that Kudos have made such basic mistakes with this one. There have been comments on lack of publicity too. It seemed well promoted but that was online and on channel adverts. Apart from BBC Breakfast, there was none of the usual TV/radio interviews. Even the RT cover was about Hermione Norris rather than Outcasts. The Biggest Loser is slowly growing it's audience and will overtake Outcasts next week unless tonight's episode is spectacularly good. The BFGW will do very well tonight. I hope BARB is prepared. Taggart may get a boost too.

ITV's advertising revenues are expected to be up by almost 20% in April as the royal wedding maintains the resurgence in the TV ad market. Hate to break it to you ITV, but most people will watch on BBC.
Industry sources claim that the major retailers are hoping the four-day celebrations around the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton will draw people into the shops, reports the Daily Mail. |

The Outcasts failure has boosted The Biggest Loser. Not much a difference between the 2.

Not really. The Biggest Loser was unchanged week-on-week at 4m. No difference.
I agree though that it didn't experience a great boost, given how much C4 and C5 were up week-on-week. |

I'm being pedantic but it was up 130k week-on-week in terms of the non +1 numbers (3.85m vs 3.98m). [It was up 200k in the +1 included numbers].

The BBC has decided not to recommission 'Just William', according to some journalists. I can't remember how it rated but it had great reviews and it was well received by the viewers so I'm a bit surprised they haven't gone for a second series.

you make it sound like house arrest. I'd imagine their schedule at 9pm in April will be stronger than the current one as there will be more ad demand then than in January.

Five News has been shortlisted for News Programme of the Year at the RTS awards, alongside ITV News at Ten and Channel 4 News.
Channel 4 has the most nominations - 13 in total. RTS nominations in full: http://www.rts.org.uk/servedoc.asp?f..._ReleaseFV.doc |
