Neighbours performing adequately on Eleven for the time being, but I'm inclined to wait a couple of weeks before declaring it a success. IIRC, didn't Neighbours do very well for Five here in the UK initially before sinking some more. It's that kind of profile drop we're talking about, I think, so there might be some interesting lessons to take from it.

It did fairly well, I'd say. Evidently the context of a fish themed week on C4 probably helped it. For a few years, C4 ran "The Great British Food Fight" at this time of year, which usually saw their chefs - with their one off contributions to those weeks - getting better figures than their regular series manage.
It does seem like an odd focus of a week, but I suppose it utilises C4's pretty comprehensive roster of chefs to good effect.

I concur about the general start to the year. Saturdays have been a big disappointment and Above Suspicion didn't do what it was meant to. The contrast has been exacerbated because BBC One has come out all guns blazing with its big dramas too. Kidnap and Ransom the next big test for ITV.
Regarding Tuesdays, well obviously whats unique there is that the BBC have Holby right at the centre of primetime. And ITV, surprisingly, have always erred away from attacking it, or trying to establish the soap wraparound EE that they have on all other nights.
I suppose they rightly consider that attacking Holby isn't worth it, in case it should spark something of a scheduling war. The BBC have thus far been totally passive with regard to ITV's soap expansion in the pre-watershed schedules. It's probably not a good idea for the wider schedule to risk provoking a reaction. They could wind up helping themselves on Tuesdays to find things are much more difficult on other nights.
