Superb for NGO - easily its highest ever rating by miles. And for a show that was axed. Certain to be coming back now I think, as it should have done anyway, regardless of ratings - a genuinely funny old-style sitcom. What's not to like?

I wonder how it could have done had the Beeb launched it in tandem with CFWM on Christmas Night?

It can't have done any worse than the mass switch-off at 10.45 after the news finished, and could have brought the series to an even bigger new audience on the back of the 12.5m who watched CFWM.

BBC2- The Antiques Roadtrip: 1.98m (12.3%)

Here's hoping Celebrities Five Go To's ratings will dissuade C4 from bringing it back. We don't need yet another blatant Come Dine With Me rip-off. Honestly, TV executives today! If they had a brain they'd be dangerous.

And here's hoping the big gap between The Chase and Weakest Link will encourage BBC1 to try and refresh their tired 5.15 slot. Come on BBC, stop being so lazy with your scheduling. All year round Weakest Link? Bbbbooorrrriiiinnngggg!!!!!:yawn:

The Chase thoroughly merits its success. Great format and a great host.

Primeval (Sun) - 4.27m (15.2%)

Silent Witness (Mon) - 7.41m (23.1%)
Silent Witness (Tue) - 7.60m (25.5%)

Thanks to MattJ for those ratings
--------------------------------------------------------
There are some very strong timeshifts there: Above Suspicion's first episode timeshifted 1.7m, while Silent Witness' Mon episode timeshifted 1.5m.

Above Suspicion's series average was 6.63m. That's down 1.14m (-15%) compared to last year's series average. But an average like is still pretty high for a drama (would've made ITV's Top 10 drama list last year) and I think worth bringing back for another shot.

Come Fly with Me continued to bring in big timeshifts - 1.3m for that episode, and so the current series average after three episodes stands at 9.69m! Also Not Going Out did well to break the 5m barrier.”

Very strong timeshift for Above Suspicion, meaning probably recommission. I wonder what are the chances as a result of Kidnap and Ransom timeshifting to ~7m?

As for The Chase, I wonder if it'll go to primetime? Surely its only a matter of time...

will we get the figures for come fly with me on the iplayer, they must be very high, as all 4 episodes are now in top 15, with episode 1 only just out of the top 10. It must be big,

Also will this weeks silent witness timeshift to 8 million, I reckon it could easily!

First two episodes I have ever seen and have to say its very likeable and has funny lines. Thought those days were gone.

Oh well, better late than never. You've only missed 3 cracking good series!

If anything this new series seems to have less of the rapid-fire one liners which I guess made the first 3 series a bit "love it or hate it".

I do think it's been let down by poor scheduling and promotion over the years. Seems a hit comedy lead-in, and a move away from Fridays, was all it needed.

and the final two Neighbours ratings

NEIGHBOURS EP 2 Network ELEVEN 288,000
NEIGHBOURS Network ELEVEN 256,000

I am sure we wont do this next week, only did it this week due to the launch of ELEVEN

ELEVEN had a 4.1% share, joint 3rd behind Go! (5.4%), 7TWO (4.3%), Gem (4.1%)

Not a fan of The Chase myself, but agree with everything else you've said. Disagree though ITV should look to move it towards primetime - it's not really a primetime style show and it's doing superbly in the 5pm slot anyway - and 2.7m at 5pm is surely better for ITV than the sub-4m it would likely get in a "better" slot.

With Murder She Wrote ditched from afternoons BBC1 should at least move The Weakest Link to 2.15pm and be more creative at 5.15pm, whilst what's the point in C4 replacing Come Dine with Me for a week with a rip-off format (and then still screening back to back episodes daily anyhow!).

Have to agree it's great to see Not Going Out do well, hopefully it'll get a 5th series now. Can anyone remember what it was paired with during series 3? Was it Have I Got News For You or another comedy show?? I think there was a great selection of shows on last night, and great ratings to prove it, some decent comedy, a decent drama, decent documentery, now if every weeknight was like this then it would be a good thing!

Assoon as I saw The Chase's rating I thought about whether they'd move it and give it a go in primetime. I see D.M.N has said that too. I wonder what the demos are/whether a lot of people getting home from work switch it on or whether it's continuously elderly skewing.

Neighbours' second episode held up well then. That's a good start for the show; I guess it'll see and increase as autumn approaches.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll still argue that ITV have the soaps the wrong way round on Thursday. The big show should be offering the lead in; not be away from a junction. No disrespect to BBC1, who had a superb night, but I think the 8pm hour is being boosted by ITV having the 'low' (albeit perofrming well) show first.

Kidnap and Ransom did well enough but they'll hope not to lose too much of an audience next week. I wonder if it would've done better on Monday even against Silent Witness...

Come Fly With Me got a good figure against heightened opposition and Not Going Out is being boosted by it. EastEnders is not being hurt by the controversy at all.

Totally agree about The Chase, good daytime format, but TOTALLY unsuitable for primetime, just not the right format or style for evening viewing, similar IMO to Pointless, again a GREAT day time format, but that's all it's suited for, just my opinion though.

it certainly would be good to see Neighbours increase, no reason it should, it always increases during the year, and then decreases again, no reason it shouldnt do that on ELEVEN.

Why on earth would the BBC want to axe it? It does well really well on Christmas Day!

Why on earth do we keep getting these stories about Richard Desmond taking over programmes when the rights are owned by other people (ie the BBC in the case of TOTP) and he is not prepared to pay the market rate for existing programmes. I can understand Express Newspapers lapping up this nonsense but not other companies.

Emmerdale got a better share than Eastenders?

Those really are fantastic ratings for Coronation Street.

Good figures for all the soaps there, in particular good % for Emmerdale.

oh I agree, 9pm is no time for soaps, and if anything the BBC needs to bring some other types of show to that time peroid, even if it means loosing an episode of EE to do it.

Lets face it, 7pm - 9pm, is pre booked on the BBC alot

7pm - The One Show (set in stone)

then youve got 4 episodes of EastEnders, and 1 hour of Holby City.

It could be hard to find new timeslots for shows around them.

Of course the BBC already deos more than ITV in this regread, its called Wednesday night

Presumably you only post tape-checked ratings for Coro St but not EastEnders because you only have them for Corrie?

With EE finishing around 8.26 on Mondays and Fridays, and 7.56 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and three of those eps followed by a mass switch to ITV1, we're not exactly comparing like with like.

Probably not - only about 4m will have been watching the last 4 minutes of the 8-8.30 BBC1 slot. The 7.25-7.30 ITV1 ratings will have held rock solid as EmFm viewers stay put for CoroSt.

These ratings are from DS. All ratings reported by DS are tape-checked. So the comparison is like-for-like, in the way you're suggesting. I was just trying to make it clear for people that Corrie's rating was the average for that particular time period and it wouldn't be the same as the full-slot average. Yesterday EastEnders ran for 20:00-20:28 so its tape-checked rating is the same as the full slot rating, that's why I didn't make a little note under its rating.

Robbie complains about accuracy and cant even get the name of the programmes correct. Or maybe this is some tired gag Its pretty piss poor anyway to be perpetually harping on about the same thing day after day.

While "the soap channel" (ITV1) is getting good numbers for those programmes it will increasingly impact the ratings for anything that isn't soap.

Any general audience channel that becomes obsessed with one programme (or genre) is risking their future, and didn't ITV1 make exactly the same error a few years ago for short-term gain? (longer term crashing)

I think ITVs new bosses are repeating history here.

EastEnders only finishes early on Tuesdays and Thursdays because of the 8pm News junction. It starts on time on Mondays and Fridays.

I've abbrieviated it to 'EmFm' for years. I know my parents still call it "Emmerdale Farm". I suspect they're not alone, by a long way.

Does that really upset you so much?
