With all the officials in, here's the Top 20 Official Ratings for 2010:

01 - 17.71m - THE X FACTOR (12/12/10) - ITV1/HD
02 - 16.41m - EASTENDERS (19/02/10) - BBC1
03 - 14.75m - CORONATION STREET (06/12/10) - ITV1/HD
04 - 14.63m - WORLD CUP 2010: ENG V ALG (18/06/10) - ITV1/HD
05 - 14.28m - STRICTLY COME DANCING (04/12/10) - BBC1/HD

06 - 13.59m - WORLD CUP 2010: ENG V GER (27/06/10) - BBC1/HD
07 - 13.50m - BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT (05/06/10) - ITV1/HD
08 - 13.48m - I'M A CELEBRITY... GET ME OUT OF HERE! (04/12/10) - ITV1/HD
09 - 12.47m - COME FLY WITH ME (25/12/10) - BBC1/HD
10 - 12.27m - DOCTOR WHO (01/01/10) - BBC1/HD

11 - 11.29m - THE ROYLE FAMILY (25/12/10) - BBC1/HD
12 - 10.77m - DOWNTON ABBEY (07/11/10) - ITV1/HD
13 - 10.57m - GAVIN AND STACEY (01/01/10) - BBC1/HD
14 - 9.96m - EMMERDALE (14/01/10) - ITV1
15 - 9.82m - A TOUCH OF FROST (05/04/10) - ITV1

16 - 9.71m - BBC NEWS (18/12/10) - BBC1/HD
17 - 9.68m - THE FIRST ELECTION DEBATE (15/04/10) - ITV1
18 - 9.64m - DANCING ON ICE (10/01/10) - ITV1
19 - 9.37m - NEW YEAR LIVE (31/12/10) - BBC1/HD
20 - 9.36m - CHILDREN IN NEED (19/11/10) - BBC1/HD

Notes:
- Only one World Cup entry per channel.
- A weighted average for the full slot for the World Cup games.
- No duplicates: i.e. no BGT/DOI/IAC/SCD in there twice.
- HD audience included for all programmes airing on HD.
- Touch of Frost rating ammended so it's for the full slot, not just 68-minutes which BARB did. It would've been in 15th place anyway.
- BARB's chart on their website will be different as they won't be including HD for programmes which aired on BBC1 (before October) and ITV1.
---------------------------------------------
An equal 5/5 or 10/10 split between BBC1 and ITV1 in that Top 20. It's an impressive list with a lot of shows getting their best ratings in years (or ever): TXF, EE, Corrie, SCD, IAC, G&S to name a few. I doubt 2011 will be able to match a list with ratings as high as that!
Firstly, thanks for this list rzt.

A very healthy Top 20 for 2010 with so many stand out ratings, and as you said so many shows getting their highest/best ratings ever! TXF's 17.71m is very impressive. I'm certain the show has peaked now. No way can it add viewers again (but we all said same in 2009).

BGT/IAC/SCD have all had excellent year's, in particular IAC and SCD. Reality TV really does pull in the viewers. It's also great news that Corrie, Emmerdale and EastEnders have all had their best year's in a while after year's of decline. It had to level off somewhere, but it think all will be down for 2011, but not massively.

With regards to the rating for ATOF. Why has this not been amended on BARB? I don't understand how this still is wrong? There has been more mistakes, discrepencies, odd reporting than any year I can remember. They really need to sort this out, with some bizzare HD ratings for ITV1 when they include shows that only air in certain places. As for the HD issue, please, please bundle all the figures together.

Looking at the Broadcatsing forum it appears as though the FA Cup replay which will be shown by ITV is Leeds United v Arsenal - no surprises there.

ESPN have the following to choose from:

Manchester City v Leicester City
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Doncaster Rovers
Cardiff City v Stoke City
ESPN showing Man City on the Tuesday. Do we have any figures for ESPN's coverage over the weekend?

ABC:
7pm - America's Funniest Home Videos - 7.55m (1.8)
8pm - Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - 9.11m (2.6)
9pm - Desperate Housewives - 12.69m (3.8)
10pm - Brothers & Sisters - 8.38m (2.3)

ABC:
Not good news here. Vs same week last year Desperate Housewives was down 19% and Brothers & Sisters was down a rather alarming 36%. B&S had a 77% retention last year, down to a weak 61% last night.

Tvbythenumbers
Really is time Desperate Housewives was bought to an end now (though I think with the courtesy of a final season renewal). Their format of having a mystery new arrival every season - and then getting rid of them as soon as they're in danger of becoming more popular than the main cast - has long been tiresome.

Strong start for Bob's Burgers.

C14E, do you know how Shameless did on cable?
Shameless USA was Showtimes best premiere in seven years:
SHAMELESS

* The series debut of SHAMELESS was SHOWTIME’s biggest drama series premiere in seven years with 982,000 total viewers at 9 p.m. and 1.3 million viewers for the night. (7 yrs ago: Dead Like Me with 1.11 million)

* SHAMELESS bests other top SHOWTIME drama premieres including THE L Word (2004) – 936,000; The Tudors (2007) – 869,000; Dexter (2006) – 603,000
NOTE: Showtime was in a "freeview" mode but these numbers only account for subscribers.

Shameless did very well as did Californication and Episodes, not sure how well Episodes will do tonight on BBC Two but I like Tasmin Greig and Stephen Mangan.

Thought ITV would have took the sensible option and ran Coronation Street from 20:33 to 20:59 with no adverts in the 9pm changeover to boost The Biggest Loser.

Instead they took the quite stupid option of running Coronation Street from 20:28 to 20:54, leaving plenty of time for viewers to channel hop.

Quite frankly, I won't really care if The Biggest Loser flops as:

a) it's daytime garbage in primetime
b) the slot is more deserving for a drama
c) it's essentially Celebrity Fit (or was it Fat?) Club again

I would check its ratings from 2009 in daytime, but Part 3 of this thread is unavailable - unfortunately DS have removed some large threads so they're unavailable for public access: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...80&postcount=2

on the subject of episodes, I thought it was very funny but in a dry way.

The head of comedy, brillant.

I was however dissapointed that Ben Miller was playing himself, and not his Moving Wallpaper character. Also why would they film a reality show in a gated community where real stars live?

I am declaring it a hit.

Frustrating that, isn't it? It covers such a lengthy period of time and this thread is simply the best resource of numbers anywhere on the web.

Does anyone know if DS would be able to restore it? I understand they're saving space or whatever by cutting off long-running threads, but this isn't really a typical case. Mostly, long running threads just turn into little clubs of people asking how each others days have been - thankfully, thats really not the case here. There's actually some pretty useful archives of numbers that have been blocked off.

Paul Millar is probably one person who visits this thread to be able to ask him - he might not be able to do anything himself but he'll be able to ask the mods about it.

Paul - if you're about, any idea if we can restore part 3?

EDIT: I've emailed DS about it too - I'll say if there's a reply.

Again, a good figure from Jamie Oliver. I don't think Neighbours would've done any better there.

The news programmes were the only ones to get over 1m - shows summer is in full swing there.

Does the announcer on 7two speak with a British accent on Sunday night?

Can not wait for ELEVENs ratings.

I agree, the show seems to be quite well in that slot.

Surely the news programmes must have been boosted by the floods in Brisbane - particularly high figure for ABC.

Just to point out, from the last part, in the Radio Times interview with Chiles they said he'd be missing Friday's Daybreak while his new series is on, because they film it on Friday - but he'll be back on Fridays when it finishes.

I don't understand all the negativity towards The Biggest Loser. It's a hit across the globe and promotes a strong healthy lifestyle image (something a public services broadcaster can brag about). It also offers an alternative to what the other channels were showing at that time last night.

Considering the programme itself - the production values seem high and with only one hour per week there was little time for padding. I for one will be tuning in again.

Thats like saying The Apprentice is a serious business show.

Have you read what happened some of the contestants on the International versions, when the show is over?

Quick heads up that BBC Scotland aired football last night and as a result didn't air several shows broadcast by the rest of the network. I think both Silent Witness and Eastenders were affected (with Eastenders being shown on Wednesday in Scotland). No doubt the officials will be down (or not up as significantly as usual) for these episodes.

A 37% share for Emmerdale..can't remember the last time that happened. Also a 44% share for the first Corrie is really impressive. Not sure why there was a big Corrie drop considering the big cliffhangers, but Panorama seemed to get a boost and obviously Corrie will be higher tapechecked.

I'm glad TBL flopped-caught a bit of it out of curiosity and it was awful and didn't deserve the good slot-and now ITV have shot themselves in the foot giving Silent Witness free reign and now Taggart will sink even more, because SW's ratings tend to be very stable.

Strong start for Episodes building on its lead in and amazing for Shameless-pulling in similar ratings to how CBB did last January will be good news for Ch4-especially if it can keep it up all week.
