Also ITV1 Wales have Wales This Week on instead off Grimefighters

I see where you are coming from, but what else have STV got that could rate well for 6 episodes at 9pm on a Tuesday night? They would never air first run Taggart in the Tuesday night flop zone. And I don't think it is surprising that STV want to repeat their only drama.

It worked a treat that year. Presumably they think they can live with DOI's 8-9m level and it poses them no real threat that they have to move to "off hour" scheduling junctions (and the strong BBC1 audiences last Sunday bear that out).
But it seems daft interrupting AR's lengthy series to slot in 6 weeks of Candleford, showing repeats instead at 6pm.
Why not go:
6.20 Countryfile
7.20 Antiques Roadshow (current series)
8.20 Lark Rise to Candleford
9.20 Zen
10.50 News
Far stronger IMO, and gets the jump on all 3 ITV shows”
Four points:
1. The BBC would be accused of being too agreesive with ratings
2. A 2250 news would mess up the news channel. At 2300 instead of starting a bulletin they would be just starting the sport for the network news. Odd start times for BBC1 News, and the impact on the news channel, does annoy quite a few people, and while less important, I'm sure it does dent the news channel ratings. Some wanting a news at 2300 would probably go to Sky instead
3. It's a late finish to the evening schedule for a work night, which could impact on the Zen ratings (and the news but that matters less)
4. By resting the current Antiques Roadshow series it enables it to finish later in the year and reduces the number of 8pm repeats in the summer
