I'm finding these demo breakdowns absolutely fascinating.
It's pretty clear how C4 pitches its appeal to advertisers, isn't it?! Glee is obviously amazing in the way that it skews so young (and upmarket, too) but One Born Every Minute is the one that really surprised me. I thought this one would have a much older breakdown.Anyway, it does paint a more rosy picture for C4 - and they could be in for some huge numbers (both total and in the demos) for Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. That one looks to have taken off! Quote:
Should also mention EastEnders excellent numbers in the young demo. I always find it ironic that its the commercial broadcasters soaps that are the less advertiser friendly!
Perhaps ITV could do a trade? Emmerdale and Corrie in exchange for Eastenders? ![]() Quote:
Reasonably impressive for both, I think - but we'll need to see how Skins hold up without Jersey Shore in front of it next week. Importantly, it has at least honed in on the right demographic (does anyone else find it funny that MTV gave it an 18+ TV-MA rating, protested claims that they were targeting it at teens, then brag about its numbers with that demo in the press releases I'm not really sure why they're so excited about the female skew for Being Human, but overall those numbers seem OK-ish. But I don't think it can afford to lose too much over the first season. ). Being Human much more subdued, and its difficult to cut through all the demo spinning PR guff sometimes - but on the face of it, the news seems pretty positive.
Quote:
And like him or lump him, you can't deny Piers Morgan has made a splash over the pond - I had a feeling he might. He'll obviously fall some way back from the first week hoopla, but I think its an injection of energy that CNN badly needs. Fox and MSNBC might just have underestimated him - the inevitable coming clash of egos should be something to watch (thankfully, from a distance I think they'll just be relieved that they've managed to attract an audience - there's still hope! Their new 7pm and 8pm shows didn't get any lift when they launched and Parker Spitzer seemed designed for controversy. )
You can generally tell a network is happy when they rush out a press release so fast that they've only managed to type about 5 lines! Quote:
As far as the main networks are concerned, not so great for NBC yet again - try as they might, they just can't bust out of the low 2's with any sort of new drama. You almost pity them - then you realise its the same reactionary twerps that presided over the Tonight Show fiasco, and it doesn't seem so surprising...
And they're scrambling again. Parenthood, previously meant to move to Mondays at 10pm, is now staying on Tuesdays at 10pm. The reason is that Law & Order: LA is having a bit of a midseason revamp and there's no set date for its return. Harry's Law will now air all 13 episodes on Mondays at 10pm. The Marriage Ref has been bumped from its Sunday 8pm slot in favour of America's Next Great Restaurant. The top people responsible for The Tonight Show fiasco (Jeff Zucker and to a lesser extent, Jeff Gaspin) have both been forced out of NBCU amid the merger with Comcast. Zucker was effectively fired (having just been given a generous 3 year contract) and Comcast put someone in over Gaspin on the programming side so he quit. He'd been overseeing NBC for less 18 months having replaced Ben Silverman. |

Sci-fi is generally seen as more male skewing and so I imagine Being Human brought in a female audience who dont normally watch Syfy and it skew pretty young but I think we need to wait and see before a second season renewal is announced but I imagine Syfy are happy with the numbers especially when their more expensive shows like SGU and Caprica all but flopped.
Looks like three British shows have been adapted successfully across the pond, wonder if other cable networks will try and look for other British or international shows to adapt? FX are showing Wilfred in the summer which is based on an Australian TV show. |

![]() ![]() You got to wonder how any five daytime show can make money I'm assuming its made on something like £30k an hour, which is probably too low an estimate. |

Jonathan Ross has revealed that his planned interview with George Michael was scrapped because it was considered too "inappropriate" for a post-X Factor audience.
Last year, Simon Cowell, Ross and Michael came up with the idea for the tell-all interview shortly after the 'Careless Whisper' singer was released from jail for driving while unfit through drugs. However, the show - which was due to be broadcast after an edition of Cowell's ITV reality show - was apparently canned amid fears that the topics being discussed were too adult for Saturday night viewing. |

ITV2 to pick up US Jeremy Kyle http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/news/i...022449.article
ITV2 is close to agreeing a deal that will see it acquire the US version of The Jeremy Kyle Show. The precise terms of the deal are yet to be finalised, but it is likely the ITV Studios America-made show will air later this year after it has debuted on Fox, CBS and Cox networks in the US. |

I hope EastEnders made great ratings last night.
Over 10million would be perfect. |

Hope Gypsy Weddings did well. Great show and everyone was talking about it on Facebook.
There is something about the title of that show that draws people to it on the EPG I think. |

Attentional have just emailed to say it is 'unlikely' that we'll get overnights for yesterday today, and this might have a knock-on effect for the rest of the week.
