Does anyone know the name of the new BBC1 drama that's rivaling Marchlands?

Just reading the description for next Wednesday's NTAs...

Quote:
“The National Television Awards 2011 (Entertainment)
ITV1 Central
Wednesday, January 26th, 2011
7:30pm to 10:00pm

Dermot O'Leary presents this year's ceremony live from London's O2 Arena. This year's show promises to be the biggest ever, so expect a spectacular night of red carpet glamour, high-octane music performances, surprise special guests and nail-biting drama. Over the course of the evening, Dermot - himself a first-time nominee - will reveal the results of a massive nationwide public vote. Programmes up for awards include The X Factor, Doctor Who, Sherlock and the soaps, while nominated stars include EastEnders' Lacey Turner, Philip Glenister, David Jason and Matt Smith.
Editor's Choice, Stereo, Subtitles”

It's very obviously going to be The X Factor with a few awards for added measure in between, probably get your token performances from Take That, Cheryl Cole, Joe McElderry, Matt Cardle, JLS, maybe even Wagner if we're lucky...

There isn't one, it'll be Outnumbered repeats (once Come Fly with Me ends) and Not Going Out from February 3rd.

And finally, some minor but quite significant changes to the schedules for week beginning 29th January:

Saturday 29th January
BBC1
18:10 - Total Wipeout
19:10 - The Magicians
20:10 - Lottery
21:00 - Casualty
21:50 - Come Fly with Me (R)
22:20 - BBC News
22:40 - Live at the Apollo

ITV1
16:45 - The FA Cup Live
19:20 - Primeval
20:20 - Take Me Out
21:35 - Benidorm
22:30 - ITV News

Significant as the Cup game will be starting at 17:15 meaning it'll finish about 19:10, bang when the Magicians starts. So the audience will desert ITV for BBC, resulting in inevitably a series low for Primeval on that night... can easily see it sub 3m.

Another scheduling change sees the original 1 hour Emmerdale on Wednesday 1st February removed, instead its the usual half an hour. What it means is that the last Midsomer Murders episode ever with Barnaby will have The Unforgettable Les Dawson (R). And with Waterloo Road having an EastEnders lead-in, Midsomer's first hour could be dented. Should be comfortable in the second hour though with Motorway Cops (R) on.

Are you thinking of Mad Dogs which will air at the same time on Sky 1?

BARB has released Wednesday's ratings just now.

My data source hasn't updated though. Hopefully someone else who might have access to ratings will post them today.

Last night's episode of Cougar Town was actually a repeat, hence the lower-than-normal rating.

Just sounds like an X factor related show again:yawn:
I won't be watching anyway.

Doctors share is on the rise is it not?

Another good rating for EastEnders on BBC1 and BBC 3
and i wonder why ITV have dropped the 1 hour Emmerdale now?

Poor form for ITV to run scared there - EastEnders in an unusual slot shouldn't worry Emmerdale and as you say the benefits outweigh the negatives. I wonder though if ITV just put it in the provisional in the hopes of putting the BBC off scheduling EastEnders there.

Talk about an ungodly hour to release ratings when all of the media site staff have gone home.

Bit sad for ITV that Waterloo Road is up for best drama and no Downton!!

Didn't last year's X Factor style NTAs revitalise a tired show and gain higher ratings than the previous year?

Yeah, last year's NTAs was the most watched since 2003, and up about 2m compared to the previous one.

Shown on a wednesday night in January live from the 02 Arena Im not surpised.

There was just too much x factor last year and if they have to have people perform can't they actually have someone different

I suspect they were rather low. Ricky Gervais tonight, though which might work out better. Then George Clooney tomorrow. Definitely an eclectic first week - not sure if that's a good thing or a bad. I'm leaning towards "bad".

IIRC they also had the finalists from So You Think You Can Dance? Seeing as it's a TV awards show, their attempts to liven it up should probably involve some kind of TV link rather than just total randoms.

Last years format worked really well so they'd be crazy to abandon it.

The nominations were made before Downton was aired.

There is public voting on a very long list from around September time, and inevitably shows that have more populist, active fan bases tend to end up on the shortlist and win. The BAFTAs it ain't.

The Parents Television Council are getting all hot under the collar again. They're now calling on the US Department of Justice and the US Senate & House Judiciary Committees to investigate MTV for child porn regarding their new series, Skins USA.

After a rather soft debut following Jersey Shore, this is just the news they needed. Jersey Shore, of course, is another show which exploded as a result of moral outrage.

Exactly - I think the BBC are more than happy to see it stabilise at 5 to 6 million. Just think how the ratings for the first couple of shows will skew the series average

Good stuff from 10 O'Clock Live - though I'm not expecting it to worry the ratings too much - it's one of those C4 shows which could be anywhere from 0.8-2.8m. Be interesting how it skews though considering it's head to head with Skins next week.
