Brilliant rating, BBC4's highest ever! Good scheduling to have it yesterday when neither BBC1 or ITV1 were airing a drama.

Do you have the terrestrial ratings from yesterday please?

Piers Morgan down again.
Will Ricky Gervais tonight help revive it?

Awesome rating.

Becomes BBC Four's most watched broadcast ever, beating the previous record held by Gracie! (1.4m overnight, 1.5m officials)

Good start for Mary Portas. Channel 4 has had a strong week so far.

Going by your previous ratings, I'm guessing ITV's doesn't include HD? With HD, the football must've averaged almost 6m which would be very good.

How did Indiana Jones do on BBC1?

Great rating there as well, Channel 4 really are having an excellent week so far, about time after a long spell of poor ratings! So far we've had One Born Every Minute, Shameless. My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and now Secret Shopper all do brilliantly. Hopefully 10 o'Clock Live will rate well tonight, it seems to be the most promoted of all thier new shows as well, with it being all over the papers, youtube ect, so lets channel 4 keep on with the good ratings!

Wow for Hattie, looks like the BBC Four biopics still pull in a big audience. Surprised BBC One hasn't commissioned one yet. Anything for NCIS?

I Enjoyed Mary she seemed much more suited to this show than bossing 80 year old around in a Charity shop and having a row over a shelf that had been there since WW2.

about bloody time C4 got some decent shows on there.

Thanks . Some good ratings on Wednesday - the Indiana Jones movie did pretty well (better than the other two movies) and Channel 4 managed 2m+ at 9pm and 10pm which is just what they need at the moment after months of mainly underperforming shows. With HD, the football got 5.8m which I think is ITV's second best replay rating since they got the FA Cup rights back (Everton v Liverpool had 6m+ iirc).

Strong night for BBC4, with 1m+ over 2 hours. In the officials, Hattie will probably pass 2m+ which is absolutely brilliant, and as I said before, it was great scheduling by the Beeb.

Fantastic for Hattie on BBC Four - took advantage of no drama opposition. Another useful night for C4 too by the looks of things - the new Mary Portas show did well, as did The Joy of Teen Sex (like it could fail to get a couple of million with that title... )

Piers Morgan down a long, long way in the demo - he's clearly dependent on big guests at the moment, though this will lessen over time if he manages to establish his own core base. He's also still well ahead of the 7 and 8pm disasters for the network.

Gosh, those ratings for Parker Spitzer are utterly dreadful. Really not acceptable to be lagging so far behind their three main three rivals in Total People AND demos in a key timeslot like 8pm. Even CNBC isn't too far behind in the demos.

Good rating for the football last night. Mary Portas performed excellently for Channel 4 too but not as well as Big Fat Gypsy Weddings did on Tuesday evening. What a great performance from it! Taggart is really struggling but considering the opposition that is no surprise whatsoever.

What annoys me about Taggart is there's already the inevitable whispers going around on here that it should be cancelled. Why I ask myself?

One low rating series brought about entirely by stupid ITV/STV scheduling and it's suddenly worthy of the axe? I don't think so.

This is a programme that was bringing in audiences of around 5m and winning its timeslot as recently as summer 2010.

If the programme was tired then fair enough, but the reviews I've read on here have been positive for this series.

Give the programme a break I say, it was ITV that let it down.

The strong Tuesday block continues for the BBC. The 5th week in a row for Holby City being above 6.3m and a strong share too - only one other episode in the last year and a half has had a higher share than that.

Obviously rating of the night goes to Channel 4. I think it is possible this show could build next week with all the interest it seems to have stirred up. I'm 95% sure that's the highest ever overnight rating for the Channel4 +1 channel too. I assume the peak of 7.4m includes +1, as that would be exceptional for C4 alone. If those 7.4m tune in from the start of the program next week then .

It's definitely not working. But then again, in the months before her departure, Campbell Brown went as low as 332,000 although she did average over 500,000 IIRC. The issue for CNN is that if they replace Parker Spitzer, will the new one do any better? They're getting hammered in several key slots. Piers' first few days have lifted the 9-11pm period, but they're 4th at 7pm as well - another slot which they've played around with and 4th in the morning. It's not like Anderson Cooper was up to much before either.

It's a whole network problem, IMO. CNN lost 33% of its audience last year and it was across the board. It wasn't individually underperforming shows. They were all 30-36% losses. I think they'd be as well letting Parker Spitzer plough on for a while (maybe tinker with the format), see how Piers plays out over the next few months and try and come up with a whole network strategy to deal with their weaknesses.

Even if you look at Piers' new show, it's pretty haphazard. Oprah to Stern to Rice? That's the product of an excited booker, not a network that knows its audience. Had they gone Oprah-Rice-Clooney, you'd be seeing some kind of pattern (targeting females aged 25-54).

Incidentally, I think Piers' ratings for last night with Condi Rice are more impressive than Tuesdays. The rise in the demo alongside a sharp fall in total viewers for the second show suggested it was a one-off attributable to Howard Stern. I expected that to be lost (as it has been) but also total viewers to fall - but by adding some outside the demo, the numbers stayed over 1m.

Channel 4 top programs of 2011 so far:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- C4 -------------- C4 +1 ----------- C4 Official
01: Big Fat Gypsy Weddings 18/01/11 --------- 5.6m (21.8%) -------- 746k ------------------------
02: Shameless 10/01/11 ------------------------------ 3.1m (15.8%) -------- 355k ------------------------
03: Mary Portas: Secret Shopper 19/01/11 -- 3.1m (12.6%) ------------------------------------------
04: FILM: premiere: Iron Man 2/01/11 --------- 3.0m (12.1%) -------- 561k --------------- 3.39m
05: Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2010 3/01/11 ---- 2.7m (12.9%) -------- 400k -------------- 3.34m
06: Britain's Fattest Man 5/01/11 ------------------ 2.6m (11.3%) -------- 334k -------------- 3.01m
07: One Born Every Minute 10/01/11 ----------- 2.6m (9.7%) ---------- 302k ------------------------

Last year's chart for comparison (there were no new entries after that post).

C4 and C4 +1 are overnight ratings, C4 official are from the Barb website.
All overnight ratings are averages for the full slot running time, rounded to 1 decimal place.
Shows are ranked in order of overnight ratings.
Each show only gets one mention in the list.

Possibly, there should be an episode of Come Dine With Me in the 2011 chart too as BARB have the highest official one down as 2.79m but I don't know what overnight it got. Apart from that everything should be fine.

Brilliant rating for Hattie. Didn't think it would become BBC4'S highest rated show! And a good rating for This Is Your Life as well. Wouldn't mind seeing a few of those dusted off.

The best single drama category is going to be very interesting at the BAFTAs. Hattie, Toast and Eric and Ernie are all worthy winners and each one has some definite nominations for the acting categories.

Sorry I feel this is down to Stv messing with the show. Up until this series Taggart's have been truly one-offs and Itv have only ever shown them in 1's or 2's at a time. This has meant there has always been an "event" feel to them being
on.
These are the worst ever overnight figures for Taggart, having never dipped under 4 million for a new episode.
But this year Stv decided in their infinite wisdom to add a through line/serial element to the 6 episodes forcing Itv to give them a run of consecutive weeks.
Obviously, for an old (28 years) established show it was not going to be given a cushy Monday night slot.
Stv also stupidly premiered the show in Scotland only 2 months ago and opted out of Itv's most successful drama in years.
Infuriating their audience who missed out on Downton Abbey and now Stv are showing Taggart again!
The fact it has run in Scotland already has made a huge dent on these network viewing figures.
Stv this year have changed the cast, the format, the producers, the writers and the music of the show to re-invent it. However, maybe it it ain't broke don't fix it?
I fear for it next week. Silent Witness, Cup Football on BBC2, CSI and the "juggernaut" that is My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
Ouch!

In the Guardian interview with Mitchell to promote Ten O'Clock Live, he said he's not doing another series of The Bubble to concentrate on that. I dunno if they'd do it with another host, probably not. Given the last episode of Genius was shoved out at 11pm on Sunday, I'm guessing that's not coming back either.

I don't know about Grandma's House, given one of the main cast has died.
