have to say I'm mega disappointed in Emmerdale's recent figures
it seems like the (lacklustre) fire has been a turn off with viewers. Hope Lisa's storyline will draw people back in, as it's been very well acted so far |

Found out why there was originally scheduled to be an hour long Emmerdale on 2nd February:
itvpresscentre RT: International friendly: England v Denmark will be on ITV1 7pm Wednesday 9 February (ko 7.15pm) #itvpresscentre 25 minutes ago Of course ITV changed the hour episode back to half an hour, so presumably it'll be on for an hour on Tuesday 8th February, no matter what it'll probably result in a clash with EastEnders. Or, the kick-off time above means ITV will be forced into putting Emmerdale on after the Football at 9:30pm. The provisionals should shed some light on it. |

Mary was wasted on BBC2 I know she can be a bit OTT at times but normally does a pretty decent show I think her talents were wasted on BBC2,C4 seems like a natural home for her.
she got the same if not more viewers? To be fair if it wasn't for BBC2 she would probably never have got a show on Channel 4!

Yikes - the American Idol opener did pretty badly. Last year's first episode had 1.24m, so it had less than half of that yesterday! Not good, especially because ratings for Idol usually drop by almost 50% from launch to the other stages of the competition.
This is supposed to be one of ITV2's "big hitters" but with this down, no Katie Price and Peter Andre's declining ratings, ITV2 may well suffer a year-on-year decline this year unless there's some new successes which come through. In saying that, they're likely to show X Factor USA later this year or next year which I'm sure will do very well. |

She only ever did one small 3 part spin off series on Charity shops. If anything the new Channel 4 show is far more pointless demanding great customer care form the likes of Primark when you're spending £7 quid there on a dress is absurd. Anyone know how Land Girls has been holding up all week.
Hope it gets a third series. Might even work in the Lark Rise Sunday evening slot. Oh, and a pedantic note on the next Midsomer Murders being the last ever Barnaby episode. Only the last ever John Nettles one as Neil Dudgeon's character taking over in the following episode as the DI is a cousin who is also called Barnaby....apparently done as the show is called Inspector Barnaby in some countries so, unlike Taggart or Dangerfield, it can carry on using the same title and not be in any way inappropriate. |

More Executive Change At NBC
Quote:
In the first executive fallout from the pending post-merger restructuring at NBC, Angela Bromstad, primetime entertainment president for the network and sister studio UMS, will be leaving. She told her staff about her departure this afternoon. There had been rumblings that Bromstad may not be part of the new NBC programming team under new entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt after the Comcast/NBC Universal merger is completed next week, but Comcast's November announcement of NBCU's post-merger executive structure made a point of listing her as staying on. (There was a potential scenario, in which Bromstad would take over her old job of running UMS should Greenblatt decide to give it more autonomy.) If she hadn't left on her own, Bromstad would have probably been pushed out within the next week or so, sources said. Greenblatt had reportedly been telling people that Bromstad "will be gone within 48 hours" of him starting at NBC. The latter is expected to finally happen next week when the Comcast-NBCU merger is approved.
DeadlineShe hasn't been there long and this is the second time she has been forced out of NBC due to the arrival of a new chairman (previously it was Ben Silverman). This season she reached out to the biggest names in production - developing shows with Jerry Bruckheimer, JJ Abrams and David E Kelley. The first two bombed and the third had a slow start last Monday. Overall, NBC had a terrible fall for drama like all the other networks. The problem is that they have very to fall back on and the gaps will show clearly now that the football is over. Scripted at NBC is also being damaged by the fall in ratings for Law & Order: SVU - previously its only strong drama - and the upcoming departure of Steve Carrell from The Office which holds together their Thursday night schedule. |

I wonder if it will be bittersweet for MTV US with Skins. It's all over the network news this morning in America and the news channels. This will surely have more people tuning in out of curiosity?

Disappointing for The 10 O'Clock Show. The fall through the episode is pretty significant, althought it did finish bang on 11 and not the scheduled 11:05. That being said, I did expect it beforehand to become a cult show and get ratings like Charlie Brooker's Screen/Newswipe shows ala 1m. Strong night for Eastenders too, daily reach of 10.5m putting it well over a 1m ahead of Corrie. Quote:
If BBC4 didn't exist, it would have been on BBC2 and possibly got similar figures to Eric & Ernie.
It's a shame these bio dramas are put on a channel that only 20% of the population watch, yet 100% pay for. Quote:

BBC4 is available on freeview and every basic package. If someone wanted to watch they could, there was no paywall. I would rather the BBC's best programmes are put on the two main channels to get as many viewers as possible. There's enough tat on BBC1 that could be dumped and enough BBC2 programming that would sit very well on BBC1. Also, millions don't get BBC4 on the front page of their EPGs, so it's overlooked. |

It's a shame these bio dramas are put on a channel that only 20% of the population watch, yet 100% pay for. And latest stats show 88% of TV sets are now digital, and it's been quite a while since we passed the threshold of 90% of homes being digital - we're probably around 95% now. Half the country have completed digital switchover too. Quote:
ITV are extending Countrywise to an hour:
It looks like it's destined for Tuesdays at 8pm. Countrywise's new episodes were getting almost 4m in its Monday 8pm slot last year so I suppose ITV sees this as an opportunity to sort of fix the Tuesday 8pm problem if it can get similar figures. Quote:

That said, I've always felt MTV wasn't the right fit for Skins, and they're already running scared. |

If BBC4 didn't exist Hattie wouldn't have been commissioned - and probably neither would have Eric & Ernie as surely that came off the back of similar BBC4 dramas in recent years.

Ben Stephenson was appointed Controller, Drama Commissioning in September 2008. http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/bio...ephenson.shtmlPreviously as Head of Drama Commissioning, Ben Stephenson oversaw drama development, production and strategy for BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three and BBC Four as well as online. That's one commissioner for all output. There was nothing stopping him putting the 'bios' on BBC2. |

You do have to wonder why these 100,000 people watch an hour old bulletin on +1 when they could get the very latest from a dedicated news channel such as BBC News. |
