I have to say, I was thinking along the same lines for the same reasons. Maybe having it on a Saturday in the first place - one of Channel 4's weakest days of the week - was a bad idea? It perhaps would be capable of more on one of their stronger nights? Dunno, maybe its just not that much of a draw - as someone said, lots of the winners these days are BBC Two / Channel 4 stars anyway. Only really Harry Hill, Ant and Dec and maybe McIntyre have regular followings of 4m plus. Miranda might join that group soon though...

Always has been, actually. It was thrown to the lions with a few runs against Cowell's titans last year - but as far as January and February are concerned, its been chugging along for years forming a winning double act with Casualty. Under appreciated on this thread and by the BBC, I think.

Decent again for BBC One all night (barring CFWM) - MOTD the standout for me too. Sky might be ever-expanding, but it seems to support, rather than diminish, demand for highlights.

ETA: The past few January/February runs for IITWI, in the official averages (no. of eps in brackets):

2008: (4) 7.50m
2009: (8) 6.77m
2010: (8) 6.30m

Declining at a pace, but still powerful. I wondered if last years other runs (which were down to the 4-5m's, by memory) had harmed the show - but the past few weeks seems to disprove it.

BBC HD were trailling it all week. Nothing for Nurse Jackie though. Did the SD channels promote that at all?

I'd admit having the 2012 series against BGT was a slight mistake(same with the three shows against TXF in September) in 2010, they should've left it and aired it as a summer lottery show in July (since In IItWI was a summer show in their early days).

Incidentally, they recorded another series back to back with the series we are seeing now, so we'll be catching that sometime in 2011 as well as Secret Fortune and Who Dares Wins.

Seriously, the series that aired against BGT was called In It to Win It: 2012, since it was to do with the London 2012 Olympics. They had some olympic themed questions while the balls for the contestants represented the five colours on the Olympic logo.

OK. You got me with 2010 at the end of my comment

Actually it's The Doctor.

Good night for BBC2 last night:

Quote:
“Over on BBC Two, The Return Of 'Allo 'Allo! entertained 2.56m (10.6%) between 7.15pm and 9pm, then QI XL and The Tudors mustered 2.02m (8.4%) and 2.03m (9.3%).”

Well it didn't entertain me anyway. I watched it til I could take no more. I couldnt make out what the purpose of it was.

good for the tudors... i think it got less for some of the series 3 episodes, and they were in a better slot, advertised and shown a lot closer to the US

Yep, a quick google tells us that the third series premiered with 2.3m, but ended with only 1.4m. So considering the amount of time that has passed and slightly unusual slot, I think that number is pretty good.

Nope.

30 out of 30 - ITV1, BBC1, Sky and Setanta will between them have shown every single one of Man Utd's past 30 FA Cup matches by next weekend.

I'm fairly sure Newsnight aired 10.40-11.40 that night with filler on BBC2 10.30-10.40. The reason Panorama didn't start till 9.40 was because of a party political at 9.30. Unfortunate timing really. Probably because of the limited clash - no more than 15 minutes I guess - Cracker on ITV still managed 15m viewers over the hour (it was at its absolute peak at that point with 16m a week), despite Panorama attracting 22.8m over its hour.

Panorama attracting 22.8m.

Panorama attracting 22.8m.

(it's one of those things you have to type several times as it is still pretty unbelievable!)

I do recall that Newsnight got a staggering figure that night - 7.7m sticks in the mind - as viewers turned over for more reaction and discussion on the only news bulletin to actually be able to report on it that day.

Great for the Allo Allo repeat. The first showing on 28 April 2007 had an official rating of 3.91m, in a Saturday 9pm slot.

(It was up against the end of Casualty 7.13m and the whole of The National Lottery People's Quiz 5.03m on BBC1, but beat Who Wants to be a Millionaire on ITV1 which had only 3.73m!)

With the crazy timeshifts we are getting lately, it might be close to 3m for its repeat.

Channel 5 Saturday:

19:50 NCIS (R) 1.08m / 4.4%
20:45 CSI: Miami (R) 1.04m / 4.2%
21:40 CSI: New York (All New) 2.07m / 9.5%

ITV's tape-checked ratings for tonight will cut off the first 5 minutes for each show, as usual.

Sensible decision - always said they should do that, and thought it would be the case when one report referred to the 100th episode (I think the 18th this series) being on in the autumn.

Good news for Fringe fans, it actually increased its audience for its timeslot move to Friday nights. That dramatically changes the shows survival chances as Friday is typically a graveyard, particularly for FOX. However, with Kitchen Nightmares & Fringe both winning their slots with 1.9 ratings, it was a rare Friday win for the network.

In fact, it's quite possible that from now until the end of the season, FOX will be winning 6 nights a week (Tuesday-Sunday) in the key demo.

Dancing On Ice finished at 10.01pm. Obviously nearly 3 hours wasn't long enough in the schedule for them.

That Sunday Night Show started at 10.02pm.

Yes Panorama has one of the hall of fame ratings for certain though the subject matter was unique. Regarding Newsnight-years ago it was complementary scheduled for the ending of whatever was on BBC1 every weeknight. So it could start anywhere from 10.30 to 11.15.That is until some BBC type said something along the lines of it isnt what us chaps should be doing and it was eventually made immovable at 10.30.

Rare for Seven to finish third on a Sunday! Some impressive numbers for the cricket, comprehensively thrashing the tennis once again. In terms of popularity it is clear which sport Australians prefer to watch generally. With sporting action dominating the schedules on Nine and Seven, Ten's alternative lineup held up admirably after 7pm and they were competitive until the early hours with yet another dose of Oprah in primetime, which rated well, and also the premiere of Australia which finished late and helped boost their share.

Her final daytime series prior to moving to OWN will continue on Ten weekday afternoons. I guess they will look into getting the rights to the OWN shows thereafter as Oprah seems to have quite a fanbase in Australia.
