- Top Gear was #1 of the day in terms of 16-34s and 18-49s.
- Bruce Parry's Arctic benefitted from the Top Gear lead-in, beating all BBC1 shows among 16-34s and 18-49s.
- Terry Wogan's Ireland was the least watched terrestrial programme in its slot among 16-34s.
- Being Human had 0.37m 16-34s watching it, more than Wogan too.
- What Happened in Vegas had more 18-49s watching it than all but one show on BBC1 (Countryfile).
- Lark Rise to Candleford was the most popular programme yesterday among ABC1s.

Great story for the ESPN game tonight. At half time Man United have a two-goal deficit to overcome at Blackpool to avoid their first defeat of the season.

I remember the serious days too. Didn't Kirsty Wark and Jeremy Paxman both do the show at one point? Or am I dreaming that?

If I may comment, I don't think the problem is on these boards. If Daybreak was pitched at the right level, people would watch. Significant numbers don't watch. There are lots of reasons why that might be - including the tone, content and presenters of the show and the way the transition was managed. Many GMTV viewers may not have liked their show being changed and their presenters being publicly sacked. They watched Breakfast, liked it and stayed.

The fact that BBC Breakfast is under threat too with the move to Salford is also a factor. The current team are really trying to engage with viewers (most are on Twitter being very chummy - unlike their ITV counterparts). They want to demonstrate the success of the current team possibly in the hope that BBC management minds may be changed.

It's been pointed out before, Daybreak doesn't just have to be good, but Breakfast has to do something bad as well to cause people to change.

As people just watch breakfast TV for about 15 mins, catch a few reports, the weather and then that's it, they need to be annoyed by the programme enough to change what for most people is just wallpaper tv.

The soaps seem to be dipping abit now, but still pretty solid for January. Corrie slot average harmed massively by finishing 5mins early and leading into TBL. As the DS soap round-up suggests, both episodes were infact pretty much dead level when tape-checked.

Silent Witness continues to thrive as ITV1 for some reason have decided to waste the Corrie lead-in for 8 weeks with TBL, which has got to be one of the weirdest scheduling decisions of 2011 so far!? Surely it would be more suited to Tuesday night at 8pm if ITV wants to air it in prime time? ITV should have put Kidnap and Ransom in the Monday night slot, where Marshlands should be sitting next week but instead ITV have opted for a Thursday slot with this show too.

Also just looking at the lastest officials on BARB and I notice something alittle strange (well, maybe not so strange as BARB seem to be doing some weird and wonderful things of late), however the Monday episode of EE officially averaged 10.42m (and the overnight was 10.4m). So no timeshift at all. So either the overnight rating was wrong or BARB have messed up...again?!

That was the night EastEnders wasn't shown in Scotland. So in the official BARB figures, the BBC1 Scottish audience has been stripped out, hence the lower rating.

Ah, I see. Well that clears that up!

Quite surprised how evenly Horizon's audience is spread out among the age demographics, actually. I expected its audience to be older.

Biggest Loser doing relatively decently in the 18-49 demographic. It does skew very young in the US too, so that must have been part of their thinking when it got its primetime promotion in the first place.

Monday night was the same though 7:58 EastEnders begain.

The Biggest Loser isn't dipping as much as I thought it would to be to be honest. It's at least holding around 4m including +1. Though the lead in could be used better.

Good performance from the soaps when tape checking is taken into account. Silent Witness is performing strongly with a lack of opposition.

CBS were in repeats. As has been pointed out, thats a bit stupid as Hawaii 5-O was carrying a lot of momentum from Sunday's football-inflated special airing.

Overall a good night for Fox with Lie To Me bouncing big and posting its best numbers in a long time. ABC was solid but as far as Mondays and Tuesdays are concerned they're counting down the weeks till DWTS returns to beef their numbers up. Mixed fortunes at NBC. Chuck did quite well to hold a 2.0, and Harry's Law dropped only 0.1 from the premiere audience last week. It's total numbers are great, but the skew is very old. The Cape looks dead.

In other news, Skins US fell big time without the new Jersey Shore lead-in it had last week. Down by more than half to 1.6m from 3.26m last week. In 18-34, it had just a 1.0 after starting with 2.7 last week. Bad news, and MTV will drop it like a stone if the controversy becomes simply not worth it. Reception seems to have been quite lukewarm anyway - I keep seeing it referred to as 'watered down', which is never good for a show like that.

I'm not going to dwell too much on the hefty drop for Ten's new lineup in the 6pm hour because everything seems low for last night. It's still outside the ratings period which makes it more difficult to judge, hence all the repeats littered everywhere. But obviously that isn't a trend they would like to be seeing at this stage.

Yeah Ten seems to be experiencing a drop in ratings. Do you have the Neighbours ratings at all?

Harry's Law had the best retention of any new drama this season. If it can hold that audience, I think it will get a renewal. Especially as 10pm has been difficult for all the networks. Chuck fell to a 1.9 in finals (90210 rose to a 0.9) but I still think that's enough for NBC. Not the case for The Cape which I agree, is dead.

House was down 29% from last year and Lie To Me did 24% worse than 24 in the same slot last year.

Same problem at ABC where the anchor show, The Bachelor, was down 28% and the follow up also lost out with Castle down 23%.

NBC tied last year. Chuck off by 24%, The Cape down by 10% from Heroes in the same slot last year although Harry's Law was up 75% from The Jay Leno Show.

Neighbours was 275,00

It won ELEVEN and was 3rd on the multichannel, but its down on last Tuesday, worryingly low IMO

Well I'm old enough to remember when BBC Breakfast Time was a light, fluffy affair with Frank and Selina, not forgetting the camp astologer and the green goddess.

I think the mix of serious and lightweight on the BBC is about right now.

Sorry but GMTV/Daybreak is just too "Heat" magazine for my liking..

Last night, History drew its best ever ratings for their surprise hits, Pawn Stars and American Pickers. The cable channel beat NBC from 9-11pm.

At 10pm and 10.30pm Pawn Stars had a 2.6 and a 2.8 demo rating with 6.7m and 7.0m viewers respectively. That topped all the broadcast networks in the key demos (and beat the H50 repeat on CBS in total viewers). History also beat NBC at 9pm with American Pickers which posted a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.2m viewers.

On Sunday, the second spin-off from Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kimberley & Kourtney Take New York, posted strong numbers for E. It drew 3.0m viewers and a 1.6 A18-49 rating, improving on the summer premiere of Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami in all key measures. No doubt encouraging to E & Ryan Seacrest (the Exec Producer) as they plot a 4th spin off. However, in the "scripted reality" stakes, it was pipped by Real Housewives of Atlanta which had 3.43m and a 1.7 for Bravo.

Top Gear is doing passable numbers for History on Sunday nights. It's 1.19m and 0.6 rating is just alright and a drop from its Ax Men lead-in (2.18m & 0.8).

I don't think it's worrying. I just realised tomorrow (Wednesday) is Australia Day, viewing figures always take a dip the night before a public holiday in Australia, especially in the summer. Best to take last night's figures with a pinch of salt.

Hmmm not too worrying in the short term though I don't think. Monday's ratings were the highest they have been on Eleven at 330,000, so a one day blip isn't too bad. I read somewhere that producers expected ratings to drop to below 150k, so they are regularly receiving almost double what they expected. In Neighbours' old slot the programme got about 460k/480k which is lower than what Neighbours got even during the end of its stint at Ten when it received around 580k a night.

Also note that Home and Away scored low last night as well. It is still too early to sound the death of Neighbours in Australia, even if it is in digital form!
