How did Flintoffs show on ITV4 do? Not great with the competition I'd of thought.

You think OK! TV will do worse than a 1% audience share?

I seriously doubt it.

I think it is totally possible that OK TV will do below 200,000

And what is your basis for that when we don't even know who will be presenting the programme or what format it will take?

The OK! brand alone (mag has roughly 500,000 readers a week) should ensure that at the very least it doesn't perform any worse than Studio Five.

I'm one of them. I stopped watching because they dropped Colin McCredie who played Stuart. Always enjoyed his character it doesn't work without him. Probably due to the gay element he brought to the series.

Accounting for ITV1 +1 as well, it would have been behind Channel 4 by quite a margin last night.

I'm not sure if DS's figures include ITV1 HD, and I'm therefore not sure either if ITV's or BBC's figures are tape-checked, I know the Channel 4 figures are because Mike's Shameless rating is lower than DS's.

Really? I think it will largely come down to the quality of the programme and the talent involved, and that's where I think the show will flounder.

I can't really see the OK! brand giving it that much of an edge, to be honest.

Amazing for Gypsy Weddings although I'm not all that surprised it grew after the buzz from last week's episode.

It really has turned into a massive hit for C4 - I just hope they don't milk it dry like they have done with other, far less successful shows.

Okay, but even if it doesn't, at the very least Studio Five has proven that there is a niche audience available for celebrity-led news at 6.30. Can you honestly see many of these 200k regulars suddenly heading elsewhere when OK! TV starts? Because I can't. The fact that it is a new programme with a new format and new presenting talent will probably help draw more people in, not the other way around. I just think it's churlish to be making such pessimistic predictions at this stage. Whilst I can't see OK! TV improving on the slot average by a great deal, I can't see how it could possibly perform any worse. And at the end of the day whatever people may think of this commission it will help perform a job that Monkey Life etc cannot by contributing to C5's news output.

Terrible night for ITV and I wonder if they will do better tonight with the Awards Show?
So far January have just been really bad for them.

And Channel 4 have been doing the opposite.

Yes, I can see them leaving. Because the fact is that there are plenty of other options out there. When LFSF launched, it pulled in over a million viewers to sample it in its first week, and of those, a smaller base of around 200k stayed to watch the show regularly (obviously it's slightly more complicated than that, but I'm simplifying it).

So, when OKTV launches, we'll be talking about three groups of viewers:

A) People who watch LFSF and continue to watch OKTV
B) People who watch LFSF and stop watching OKTV
C) People who don't watch LFSF and start watching OKTV

Now, I agree that group A is probably the largest, and will form the best part of the audience for both shows. But, I suspect that group B will be larger than group C.

I suspect that the section of LFSF's audience who have fallen into a habit with the show and who will leave once that habit is broken will be larger in number than the group of people who essentially rejected LFSF but who will embrace OKTV. I don't think OKTV will be different enough, or good enough, to win back people who decided that they didn't want to watch LFSF.

Why don't they bite the bullet and rename it the "ITV Television Awards?" since it is clear now that it is being used primarily to celebrate the year on ITV rather than TV generally. They could do away with the token award for EastEnders then and alternate the soap award between Emmerdale & Coronation St.

We already know ITV will shamelessly use this year's programme to promote this Sunday's Dancing on Ice marathon:

Quote:
“A first-look at the celebrities' reactions will air in a Dancing On Ice promo during ITV's coverage of the National Television Awards on Wednesday.”

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s101/...-revealed.html

And the guests seem to be virtually all "characters" from this year's X Factor and I'm a Celebrity:

Quote:
“very exciting special announcement: Shaun Ryder and Stacey Solomon will open tonight's awards!”

“X Factor winner Matt Cardle will perform at this year's National Television Awards, it has been announced.”

So yep, once again it promises to be a real nauseating ITV love-in this evening.

The rot set in last year of course with the dire changes to the format (which admittedly viewers lapped up) and such farcical scenes as Loose Women scooping a factual award. (oh-dear!)

It's no longer a credible awards show, just 2.5 hours of ITV patting itself repeatedly on the back.

Astonishing for Gypsy Weddings - thats just a huge number, miles and miles ahead of anything else on the channel. A bit like BBC Two's Top Gear in that respect, I suppose. The question is, will it have any longevity?

The football also did brilliantly on BBC Two yesterday, so combined with C4 that was always going to be bad news elsewhere. On Five, clearly poor for CSI but Red Sea Jaws before it seemed to perform ahead of what might be expected. But as for ITV1, it was just a complete disaster from 7.30 onwards. I imagine they slipped into third place at that point, 4th place during much of the 9pm hour, and 3rd place through until late night. Awful.

Silent Witness down nearly a million from Monday, but the Tuesday schedule for BBC One is strong enough at the moment to absorb shocks like that.

ITV are deliberately schedling shite most nights. I dont understand why. And they effectivley now closedown at 12.30-5.30am bar Teleshopping and a signed programme/film.

I don't think any award show really manages much credibility in the first place when the winners are voted for by the public. It essentially comes down to how well the show has plugged itself to its viewers - see Loose Women last year. Or the widespread popularity of the nominees - see Ant and Dec for the last 10 years.

I'm one of those terrible snobs who'd rather watch the BAFTA's. Dull, but worthy.

I'll record it and skim through it quickly at 10pm after Cowboy Builders and NCIS. I'll probably get through it in about half an hour that way.

I'll feel dirty doing it but you've got to keep an eye on ITV to see what ridiculous lengths they've gone to this year to make it appear that ITV had a better year than everyone else.

To be fair, they're in a tough category. Opposite the number one shameless vote beggars Loose Women, and those other shameless vote beggars at This Morning. But they are on the "brighter side" so stand more of a fighting chance.

If it were down to sheer popularity, Breakfast would walk that one.

Still, at least Daybreak didn't make the shortlist.

the Doctor Who sketch might be worth while, but I suspect ill watch it on YouTube.

Seems wrong to think of watching ITV, for any kind of Doctor Who.
