I'm guessing that the Gypsy Weddings ratings is C4's best since Jade Goody's eviction interview on Celebrity Big Brother 5?

As for the NTA's, ITV are pretty much following the same format as last year by keeping the guest performances relevant to TV - which I think makes sense. The DOI thing is the only apparent plug for an ITV show and tbh, they'd be idiots not to make use of this kind of platform.

Judging by the interview Richard Keys is currently giving to Talksport it seems unlikely he will be back on Sky Sports, if he isn't sacked I get the impression he may well quit over the sacking of Andy Gray.

So, when OKTV launches, we'll be talking about three groups of viewers:

A) People who watch LFSF and continue to watch OKTV
B) People who watch LFSF and stop watching OKTV
C) People who don't watch LFSF and start watching OKTV

Now, I agree that group A is probably the largest, and will form the best part of the audience for both shows. But, I suspect that group B will be larger than group C.

I suspect that the section of LFSF's audience who have fallen into a habit with the show and who will leave once that habit is broken will be larger in number than the group of people who essentially rejected LFSF but who will embrace OKTV. I don't think OKTV will be different enough, or good enough, to win back people who decided that they didn't want to watch LFSF.”

LFSF ratings over the past 7 months have been around 300K The last time it was getting around the 200K was when Ian Wright was still there. It was even getting the odd time 400K last year. Why are they axing the show and replacing it for something was is the same?

The US version of Being Human seems to be doing quite well for SyFy. The second episode actually increased its ratings from the first.

I guess not having your show branded "child porn" is good for a shows ratings

Although worth noting that the first episode reached 3.8m in total because they repeated it at 10pm and 11pm.

A good performance nevertheless in week 2.

Accounting for ITV1 +1 as well, it would have been behind Channel 4 by quite a margin last night.

I'm not sure if DS's figures include ITV1 HD, and I'm therefore not sure either if ITV's or BBC's figures are tape-checked, I know the Channel 4 figures are because Mike's Shameless rating is lower than DS's.”

I thought you might've been right at first but our tape-checked rating does include HD.

Apologies, made a typo with Taggart above, should be 2.15m (8%) including HD.

The figure above includes +1.

Insanely high for Gypsy Weddings. Incredible figure adding to the success of Channel 4's January. Shameless also did pretty well considering the E4 first look took a chunk of its main audience.

ITV1 collapsed completely last night-beaten by BBC2 in primetime and Ch4 (inc+1). If Channel 4 can get huge figures for factual at 9pm then ITV1 are going wrong somewhere. An awful figure for Taggart-I really didn't think it was possible for an established drama to fall that low. I think it's definitely dead now.

SW and CSI dented by the football it seems, but Ch5's factual did very well at 8pm considering.

Huge figure for the football and it seems BBC2 and Ch4 were the definite winners of last night.

An absolutely stonking rating for Big Fat Gypsy Weddings! Not particularly surprised that it increased its audience week-on-week after the word-of-mouth but nevertheless a 7m rating for any show, let alone a factual show, on Channel 4 is special. And you know what, I think next week's rating will be even better considering the competition on BBC2 is going to be much weaker (and that last night's episode built up to an 8.1m peak inc. +1). As sn_22 said, if the show is treated well by C4, this should become their equivalent of Top Gear. I also hope that for future series, C4 can continue to use the lead-in for more dramas (like Shameless) and capitalise on that sort of inheritence because they don't come very often!

The football on BBC2 did really well and was only 1m less than what the Arsenal FA Cup match on ITV1 got last week! Speaking of ITV1, another dire rating for Taggart and their Tuesday night woes continue. I still stand by what I've said before that moving the soaps to Tuesdays won't be any good in the long term as it'll just weaken another night, so they just have to make better shows which get people talking. BFGW has shown there's more-than-enough of an alternative audience to BBC1's dramas and ITV has to do better to tap into that market.

Good rating for Red Sea Jaws on C5 (very close to C4 in the slot) and although Silent Witness dropped a little bit, it'll be back up next week. Overall, 20m were watching terrestrial TV at 9pm last night which is very high for a weeknight (about 75% of the available audience). Just proves if the terrestrials show programmes worth watching, people will come.

Here you go, with some other multichannel ratings:

BBC Three
21:00 - Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents: 495,900 (1.8%)
* series low

BBC Four
21:00 - Scenes from a Teenage Killing: 215,800 (0.9%)

ITV2
21:00 - FILM: The Whole Ten Yards: 189,900 (0.8%)

ITV4
21:00 - Freddie Flintoff versus the World: 280,000 (1.0%)
* slot average - 163,000 (0.6%)

E4
21:00 - 90210: 271,100 (1.0%)

Source: Broadcast.

Seems like Channel 4 and BBC2 put a dent into the multichannels.

Astonishing rating for Gypsy Wedding!!!
C4 have finally found a huge consistent show! When it ends, C4 may be in trouble again. But for the time being, C4 is kicking some ass!!

300k, 200k, the point stays the same. There is a group of viewers that watch LFSF who will be turned off by OKTV, and a group of viewers who currently reject LFSF but who will watch OKTV. I think the first group will be larger.

There are a number of reasons why they are dropping LFSF for OKTV:

1) LFSF is made by Sky News, and I think that Channel 5 are severing their ties with Sky News as a provider.

2) LFSF has a fairly low reputation. OKTV may be no better, but it's not (yet) thought of as crap.

3) They may, foolishly in my opinion, believe that OKTV will improve the slot.

4) The big one - OK! is a Northern & Shell brand, and launching OKTV essentially gives the magazine and website a huge amount of promotion every day. Even if it only gets 150k, that's 150k people watching half an hour of promotion for the magazine each day.

Whilst on the subject of Studio Five, it's been confirmed the last edition airs a week Friday. (4th February)

Zoo Days occupies the 6.30pm slot during the w/c 7th February. OK! TV is expected to launch the following week.

Not confirmed, but Keys is set to announce his resignation in the next hour or two.

If anyone does pick up Keys (or if Sky does want someone else), we could see another 'merry go round' in terms of personnel.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if Ben Shephard gets a promotion.

this is actually a good point, I guess the question is will OK TV! have the breaking news that celebrity gossip feeds on.

Attentional website has:

Eastenders: 19:28 - 19:58
Emmerdale: 19:01 - 19:28
Taggart: 21:03 - 22:01
Shameless: 22:04 - 23:02

So neither Eastenders or Emmerdale would have been tape checked last night.

Demographic Information for Tuesday 25th January: http://i52.tinypic.com/qrm2kp.jpg

- Big Fat Gypsy Weddings increased its 16-34 audience by 20% week-on-week and 13% among A18-49. In terms of 16-34 and 18-49, it was #1 in its slot, #2 of the day (or #1 if you were to include +1), and in terms of 18-24 it was #1 for the day.
- BBC1 lineup was down 0.1 in the A18-49 demo compared to last week.
- Second week running, CSI had double Taggart's audience among A18-49.
- Second day running, Silent Witness had the most ABC1 viewers (slightly ahead of EastEnders).
- While Secret Mediterranean's total audience was down 3% week-on-week, its ABC1 audience was up 6%.

CSI's demos are actually very good. Wasn't that far behind Silent Witness in 16-39 and it trounced Taggart among viewers aged under 55.

Have to admit I find that Arsenal vs Ipswich skew absolutely puzzling. Majority of viewers were above 65?

Is this because it was on BBC Two, the channel which has the highest age average I think?
