You've missed off the HD simulcasts.

Should be 2.12m for Hattie and 1.80m for Being Human.

Trying to include HD and not include HD when it isn't clear which channels include HD in the first place in their figures would be too time consuming.

And one fact for you Robbie: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pre.../comefly.shtml

Quote:
“The first episode [of Come Fly with Me] has now been viewed by more than 17 million across all platforms and transmissions.”

With Big Fat Gypsy Weddings being such a huge hit for Channel 4, this will probably allay the worries of what would be a success in the CBB slot. Actually I very much doubt CBB or BB will ever return and had they continued would have been a real millstone around Channel 4's neck.

However, it does look like BB will be moving to Channel 5 this summer according to the Guardian. I can imagine Des sexing it up and giving it a shorter run. Also it will be the station's biggest attraction with 2 million viewers and if it has a titilating edge, 12 bi curious women enter the house today, then it will do far better among men than women.

My point being to Derek500, if we compare like for like. Football HD percentages are pretty much the same for both BBC/ITV.”

I was thinking more of the recent football matches, where ITV has been getting up to 15% HD share, whereas BBC is always less than 10%.

Don't forget regarding the World Cup, that BBC HD is available in all the UK, whereas ITV1 HD is not in Scotland or NI.

The most recent 'normal' matches have had the following:-

BBC2 - 3.5m BBC HD 289,000. 7.6%

ITV1 - 4.48m ITV1 HD 727,000. 13.9%

it is starting to look like Big Brother is moving to Five.

no point putting bi curious women in the house unless they are the type to act on those feelings, and most likely they are going to be plants.

How do people think ITV will pitch their inevitable Gypsy Weddings copycat show?

A straight carbon copy a la Countryfile >> Countrywise?

Adding a mild twist to the same format so it looks like they've come up with something completely original - eg, Strictly Come Dancing >> Dancing on Ice?

Going for the sensationalist/chav-tastic "When Teen Boob Jobs Go Bad" angle?

Or create a new concept for a reality TV contest - eg, "I'm a Big Fat Gypsy, Take Me Up the Aisle...."

EDIT: or - better still - get a licence to host gyspy wedding ceremonies at Downton Abbey. That's it!

It was discussed on The Wright Stuff this morning in the newspaper review, using an article from the Daily Star. So yes this deal looks almost certain to go through now it's just a question of when.

I couldn't work out what Matthew made of the news. I seem to remember he was quite pleased about its apparent demise last year - this morning, rather more subdued on the subject.

Pocahontas hasn't been shown yet. It's one of the big movies on 13th February.

Next weekend they are showing Mulan.

Which came first? BBC's Countryfile or Central's Heart of the Country.

They both started in 1988, but don't know which month.

I still think it will be a bit more sexed up to get a laddish audience, but I can't see it being on for 12 weeks at a time and Des might be less keen to show the housemates asleep.
What we will see is a shorter run BB with possibly more of a game show element( like in America).
However, it will be a coup for Channel 5 as I can imagine it getting 2 millon viewers a night and will also be a catalyst for Channel 4 to show something innovative opposite.

no one will miss the hosuemates sleeping, Channel 5 will get better returns with its gambling. Fiver & Five USA are not on Freeview over night, so that isnt an issue.

Fiver im sure will benefit from Big Brother, as will OK TV! on days when there is little else going on in celebrity land.

Wouldnt be surprised if OK! sponsor the whole thing.

It also skewed very young, with 61% of its viewers aged 18-49. By far the most watched programme in this demo.”

Good to see the show coming back strong after it took quite a hit last season. This season is quite a big change in the format, with four trainers training each focused on one of four familes. The premiere was quite good, will be Interesting to see what the numbers are for the next show (Wed), if it keeps up these kind of numbers, TEN will be regretting cutting it from 6 nights to 4 nights, alhough I suspect four tightly edited episodes will make a better show. In previous seasons some episodes seemed like one long recap.

Thing is, do people think that BB on Five will sustain a similar average than the last 2 series on C4? (2.9m and 3.1m officially)

I reckon 2m+ would be guaranteed, maybe 2.4m officially...if they do it right, then it could be 3m+

But to be honest, as much as I love the show, I would have waited an extra 2 years from now and then show it on Five.
Fiver would benefit, I'm guessing BB Live and the sister shows (if they still have them) would give the channel a boost.

Also presenter... Kate Walsh?

OK sponsoring it wouldn't really make them any money - they'd want some real sponsorship to make money (plus plenty of effectively free ads for OK/Star in the breaks I'm sure)

I think an average of 2 million is feasible and, of course, excellent for Channel 5. However, since Channel 5 is a more male oriented channel, I can imagine Des sexing it up. Also he will probably cull the boring bits like the housemates asleep and the fanzine shows. However, Salv, for you BB on Channel 5 is better than no BB. Just I think, because Channel 5 is a smaller channel than 4 and BB isn't such a big brand now, Des will pay Endemol less and BB will probably be on a shorter run with less coverage.

Only BBC1 has HD bundled in. BBC2/3/4 programmes are shown in HD on the BBCHD channel and are reported separately.

Yes perhaps it will get less coverage. I can't remember it much, but how was The Farm shown? Maybe they would do something similar.

The latest I read was exactly the opposite- that Des wants a longer run. But it's all speculative and perhaps not very helpful until we hear an official announcement.

Thats one 60 minute slot per week though - im not sure how long the series will run for.

BB ran for over 3 months, every day. The final series performed better than many predicted as did the final CBB.

Really hope Big Brother isn't resurrected so soon by Five. It became low brow enough in it's final years without going to a channel which raises the bar on low brow.

Bit rich coming from a Channel 4 fan. Hardly a channel bursting with intellectual integrity.

Countrywise was a national version of similar regional programmes. The first few series only featured content from the former regional shows.

Slow news day today Robbie? Having to slate ITV based on something that you've just made up that may happen in the future?

Even Babestation is more intellectual than Five.

if it runs for six months a year, then this will surely kill BB as people were fed up with the 12 week run on 4. Also where will Channel 5 put all their martial arts films, CSI and NCIS if BB is on for longer? If it doesn't go for the more male, Channel 5 audience, I can see BB stiffing. However, I can imagine it still getting slavish coverage from the Daily Star and even the Express having to cover the show.
Unless, of course, the American approach is used where it is only shown three times a week and made more like a game show.
