I much preferred this over the better known 'Wonderful Life'.
I know what you mean, but Wonderful Life was fine until Lloyds bank chose it for their TV ad and it got played to death..

I had purposely erased this from memory!!
I shall be haunted once more!! Some things from the 80's should be buried under the patio with Trevor Jordache, and left there!

Nope, they should be totally incinerated. Buried implies there's a chance that it could come back.

I do feel somewhat shameful for bring the tone down a bit on this thread, it was unnecessary and I apologies, especially to those that might have viewed the clip and are now seeking medical advice.

A few odds and sods to add to the list.

Killing Joke's Love Like Blood sometimes appears on compilations, but these two don't.

Adorations

Wintergardens

Similarly Devo were known for Whip It (more so in the US), but another couple of catchy songs from them...

Freedom of Choice

Girl U Want

The Psychedelic Furs are quite well known for Pretty in Pink and Love My Way, but again here are some overlooked songs.

Dumb Waiters

President Gas

Yello had 5 minutes of fame with The Race, but they had made most of their best music by that point.

Vicous Games

Lost Again

I Love You

As for A Flock of Seagulls, it's usually hair, I Ran and Wishing I Had a Photograph of You you think of. But I think this is equally as good.

It's Not Me Talking

An influential track.

Spacer Woman

Never heard this till recently, but a great 80s single all the same.

Things Fall Apart

devo live: glad you listed Cristina's Things fall apart...her 2 albums Doll in the Box (produced by Kid Creole, and featuring her jet-black cover of Is that all there is?) and Sleep it off, are both well worth a listen..

I liked Yello too; Gold Rush and Rhythm Divine (with Shirley Bassey) were fine tunes too

That was one of the first 12" singles I ever bought. I'm not proud...

Much prefer his '70's stuff. As far as songs from soundtracks go, Frank Stallone's Far From Over and Arthur Simm's It's Only Mystery are my favourites.

Anyway, possible craziest song of the 80's this slice of experimental jazz features the voices of Neneh Cherry and Andrea Oliver (mum to a certain Popworld presenter)

Rip Rig + Panic - Bob Hope Takes Risks

thought the title of this thread was RARE 80's classics.... to compliment the rare 60's and rare 70's classics threads... so why are people posting 'common' tracks, or big hits?...

I take 'rare' as meaning 'not played that often these days'. I think this thread is an antidote to the sterile boring playlists on most 80's stations.

Charlie Higson looks back on it all with embarrassment but I think some of their stuff was all right. IIRC they got lumped into the same category as RR&P and the Farmer's Boys (who I only remember for a cover of Cliff Richard's "In the Country")
