Depends where you live.
Yes - it would be the same size as a Sky disk - the same dish can be used for either.

I did not know that, as I have said I have never seen one, or more importantly thought it was a SKY dish, but thanks a lot for letting me know bbuk

It's essentially the same service - Freesat is just an alternative EPG for (most of) the free channels you get on Sky.

Effectively, yes, it IS a sky dish! So that's 40cm for soft southerners, 60cm for the oiks of north england/scotland, where the signal is slightly weaker ........

Both Sky and Freesat get the same channels, the difference is the additional datastream information (and freesat doesn't have the videoguard decryption system!).

sky minidishes and antennas often have a special lug fixing, whereas the "normal world standard" is a circular antenna bracket, but that's a simple mechanical difference, otherwise they're exactly the same.

I had Sky+ before and just unscrewed the satellite cables from the Sky box and screwed them into the Freesat box. Freesat and Sky share the same satellites, eg. http://www.lyngsat.com/astra2d.html
