Hi everyone and Happy New Year.

Just noticed that a new novel has been written by one of the production assistants on Strictly, called Strictly Shimmer. More details here http://wp.me/p124B5-1fP

Haha, someone did say that they thought the main character sounded like Artem - can't see it myself though.

Oh dear God! Dire. Truly dire.

I can't believe 'Amanda Roberts' (if indeed she exists ~ would the BBC allow employees to write about the show, however thinly disguised?) actually put her name on the cover of this drivel. Her grammar is appalling!

I thought it sounded interesting and had contemplated buying it, so thank you very much for the link ~ you've saved me from wasting a few quid and a few hours of my life!

Oh my word what a load of sensationalised rubbish!
These things are never going to be that true to life but the brief excerpts just sounded dire.
I saw another book apparently about the world of ballroom dancing on the shelf at Sainsbury's (the name escapes me). A brief read of the blurb told me it was absolutely nothing like real life and wasn't worth me wasting my money.

I did buy it and wished I hadn't. It's utter drivel - chicklit at its worst.

Trashy girly books are always fun to read every once in a while though. Maybe that's just me.

To be fair I guess it does depend on the styles of literature that entertain you. Current literature aimed at females makes me shudder - even the graphics on the covers makes me run for the hills. I just find that they just focus too much and too graphically on sex. I feel that it could be left to inference and the reader to use their imagination as to what might have happened (or not!). I guess I'm just a classic literature girl at heart.

However a realistic tale of a dance competition/the dance world probably wouldn't make for very entertaining reading!

I like chicklit but would be pushed to call it that....i think drivel would be more apt

Not well written IMO but it was a nice read just after the series ended.

No problem dancing bear!

Story aside, they could have made more effort with the editing - like getting one other person to read through it before publishing!

How many marks would the book have gotten from Craig?

If Alesha reviewed it what would she say?

Apart from the story and writing style, it looks like the lack of editing/proof reading is a problem.
