Every DVD player I have owned in the past has had the facility to "remember" where it is up to in the play back of a DVD - even if you stop the play, play another disc and then put the original back in.

I have recently bought a Panasonic DMR BW880 and it doesn't remember where it is up to in playback. So this means that we always have to go back through the start up menus and search for where we were using scene select.

Seems strange that a more up to date device wouldn't have such a basic feature. I've read the manual from cover to cover and can't find reference to it.

Am I missing something obvious - or do these things genuinely not contain this basic feature.

Blu-ray recorder.......I had the DMR 780 for a couple of days and sent it back.......Crippled by design is what they are.........No playlist capability......Seamless play was exactly the opposite of what it was supposed to do.Sluggish response of remote.....A two day nightmare........Sorry I couldn't help on your specific question.........But your question reminded me of how this design is lacking in features that normal Fantastic Panny machines usually have......

One other thing is clear. Panasonic do not answer emails to their support centre -or even acknowledge receipt.
